Kicking the Royal Hornets Nest! Women get very offended!

So tonight on facebook I made quite a few women angry (imagine that! *sarcasm*). They were all talking about how they were going to either stay up late or get up early to watch the royal wedding. In fact some of them even took the day off just to see it??? Well I made a few derogatory comments about the royal family being the biggest recipients of welfare in modern history and being descendants of Germans and as a result I have a few less women on my friends list now.
Funny thing was it was all women who were mad as a hornets nest and were going on and on about how great the Royal family is and how down to earth the prince and his soon to be wife are. I think this must surely be the product of growing up watching too many Walt Disney movies. Programed at an early age, seems women are more susceptible to it (in this case).
Personally I find it offense that Americans can be so involved in the affairs of a couple not even of this nation and whose lineage (loosely) that we fought to break away from. They can take the day off to watch a wedding but half of them won't even bother to vote or do a thing that doesn't have to do with pop culture of whose with who this week on the front of the National Enquirer.
I really can't say the National Enquirer anymore because they seem to have just as many real stories as our multimedia reality world driven news stations anymore.
Ok so I am ranting time to cut it off.

I must agree with much of your assessment, evan, and I am definitely a woman. I had heard some of the political/historic facts as you have, and we know no one in this universe is without flaws, sins, skeletons, whatever.
I still believe in the right to free speech, which the modern tenor of "political correctness" constantly denigrates, in order to keep us politically manipulated and subjugated.
I purposed NOT to watch the wedding or the endless coverage, drivel, and commentary. However, I found myself wide awake and watching a shopping channel when the proceedings started. As I channel- surfed, I saw more and more of the wedding on every station, so I caved, because I could not sleep, and my food networks were not on. Cheap excuse, I know.
But, I certainly am against the "worship" of royalty of any kind, including "Hollywood" royalty, or "american idols" such as we manufacture. It's beyond "stuff and nonsense". We all have feet of clay and are constantly trying to "fashion a golden calf" rather than worship and serve our one true Creator, who has given ALL to us through sacrifice and eternal love.
Prince William is cute, seems genuine, and has gone through a lot through the loss of his mother, as has his brother. But, I'll bet, as with almost all men, he might find the kind of "idol worship" and fawning over any kind of royalty most foolish.
Women are certainly more prone to "whim and fancy", emotional hooks, Disney
fairy princess and other myths and tales, and silly fashion trends, including the "fantasy" of being like "God" that Eve succombed first to at Eden.
I totally agree with your assessment of the frivolousness of these women who will engage in such purposelessness, while not engaging in important issues and duties.
Actually, you are right. The Enquire has a higher standard of accuracy and truth than ANY of our MSM today who feed us the same pap, hype, and drivel these women feast on.

Well, it's certainly not "PC" to feel this way, and some women out there with Justin Bieber haircuts will probably want to picket against me for it, but there is just a difference, by and large, in how men view this kind of stuff and how women view it.
That whole fairytale, marrying a prince bit was and obviously still is the twinkle-eyed dream of chicks from New Zealand to New Hampshire.
I cannot a find a guy around interested in the royal wedding. But most girls I know are absolutely thrilled about it.

really? how many girls do you know? i will allow that you are in the states and this kind of stuff appeals for reasons you probably won't acknowlege but i AM a girl, i live in the country concerned and i do indeed have friends. we are not particularly interested.

Laglen, you're a married woman. Right? Different than "girl."
Jb, you're up there with the Bravehearts. Right? I imagine what the royals do doesn't particularly interest you guys, unless they're making complete fools of themselves. But you guys are also used to it. In America, you're talking about a country where Paris Hilton and Kim Kardashian are "famous."
I didn't say every muthalovin female on the planet was ga-ga over these bozos.
Girls I know, by and large, are quite interested and giddy about it.
Girls I know are also younger than you gals. (Don't take that as anything bad! If I was just talking to JB, okay. You could assume. But I actually like laglen. )

21... female... hiya
No but seriously. Good! I'm glad to see not everyone's that into it. The celeb worship stuff makes me stomach turn, and don't get me started on "royalty."
Although, I can't be for sure yous three are being honest with me.

Don't give a rats booty about a royal family, but what the heck does being descendants of Germans have to do with anything? I thought that we had all gotten over pretending that they are the only ones with a violent history, but sadly the stupidity will never end.

"but what the heck does being descendants of Germans have to do with anything?" English Royal Family = German. "but sadly the stupidity will never end." win/fail: you just made your own point since my comment had nothing to do with violent history.

British Royal families are really powerful ever since. More so Princess Diana became influential to many people even in other country. So no wonder if there are other people that are excited about this Royal Wedding. I myself can't explain of being excited to this Royal Wedding. I think it is because my Mom was a fan of Princess Diana so I became involved into it.

But then it is so weird on my part that I don't involve myself or even watching Pacquiao fight in live and team Azkals

Evan, Evan, Evan,
No wonder you lost a few friends. Your comments were pretty nasty. The Queen is one of the hardest working people on Earth. As for them being Germans how long are we going to hold this against the poor princes? They did not choose their parents but you see William chose a pure British girl. Pomp and Circumstance is really a highlight in the lives of so many millions of ordinary people who toil away all over the world, making a living, paying their bills trying to keep their heads above water. So a day of sharing a dreamland wedding brings joy to many hearts. True, the security bill was hefty but the millions of pounds earned through souvenirs and tourism made up for it. As I also gathered the couple's parents were paying for the actual wedding together with the Queen. Myself I was not glued to the TV but I thought the British did this sort of thing really well. To me they also showed their serious side with the fly over. The fly over was to be expected since the groom is a helicopter pilot but what made me think there was also a message conveyed was the fact that the fly over consited of a Lancaster bomber, a Spitfire and a Hurricance. All of these were instrumental in the battle of Britain. So to me the message was:" Look we can really put on a romantic show but don't mess with us we also protect our people."

Well I'm British but live in Poland and the coverage in Poland of the wedding is massive. I've never really understood the great love of the royal family in the Uk but it's even more absurd to see people from other nations so interested in a wedding of two relatively insignificant people. I did think to myself "if you like them so much, why don't you get some of your own again!"
Then again, I don't like weddings, monarchy or the dull daily affairs of others that is so prevalent in today's media!! Nice thread!

I am going to comment here more on the pop culture reference than the royal family. It is unreal the things I have learned recently about how women have been prgrammed throughout time and the confusing messages that we have been sent. I just read a very interesting book called "Where the Girls Are" by Susan Douglas and let me tell you. I will never watch a Disney movie the same again. The thing is..the programming is passed on and on...even without Disney..it is in everyday life. My most recent class is a Pop Culture history class. Wow...is all I can say. I think everyone should take one..it has been a real eye opener for me.
Great rant by the way..lol.

Living in a country and watching your tax money being used - millions and millions of it - to put on a pretty display, is atrocious. I would have thought much better of the whole royal family if they had had a priest at the church with only immediate families invited, a quiet supper afterwards, and save the tax dollars to fix the problems of the country.
Why does not one politician in any country in the world look at things in this way???
I think Harry will be a better man than his foppish dad. Kate may be a lovely wife and mother, but neither of them is worth the pageantry that runs so deeply into the taxpayer's pockets.

Pretty funny Evan. I have to agree with you. I guess I just don't understand the whole worshiping royalty thing. Most of the girls where I work were all gaga about it and got up early to see the spectacle. Most of the guys didn't care at all about it. Oh well... it's over now.

Personally, I like Harry better. He has what William sorely lacks. Spunk and Moxie.

Don't be a killjoy, just let them be. That's their happiness so let it be.
I for one, is also getting annoyed by all the frenzy the TV and the media is doing with regards to the Royal Wedding, here in our country. It doesn't affect our economy , yet they are making a big fuzz about it.
However, just out of curiosity, i may watch it tonight on TV, so when my office mates will be sharing their stories of what they saw in TV, i wouldn't be so left behind.
