I started this topic because since i was young i have experienced a lot of things that are funny and yet quite difficult experience. But looking back at those times i can't believe those times were quite difficult compared to the present life we have now. I want to start with owning your own landline.in the philippines in the late 80's till the early 90's, it is hard to apply for your own landline phone. there was only one Telephone company back then. And this lone telephone company is having difficulty supplying the telephone demand of the whole country. We were only able to get a phone in the 80's because my uncle left for the US and he left the telephone line and telephone rights to my mom. Anyways, that is not that end of the story. Having a landline of your own. it does not mean you have sole ownership of it. Even if you have your own unique telephone number. someone else who have different number shares the same line. Which means, if some one called us on our number, some one on the other end can hear our conversation because we share the same line but have different telephone numbers though. It is like we have to give way to other party line if they want to use their phone. and when they are done using the phone, only then we can our phone. We had no idea who was our party line back then. but it was only someone near the neighborhood or someone few blocks away from our place. But you can have your exclusive line for a more high price. But we were paying with a partyline to save from high fees in monthly telephone bills. This is the worst thing with having a party line. You are not allowed to talk too much or too long as you must consider the need of your party line to use the phone. And when i forgot i had a party line, and keep on using the phone, i would be shouted at on the phone by the other end. I had some fight with my party line before on the phone though only. And there was this few months of daily brownouts. it was like every night there was no electricity on the main capital of the country. Imagine living in the capital city of the whole country, and even the other parts of the country was suffering the same thing. I had to endure almost endless nights without electricity. I felt like i was trapped in a place where i have nothing else to do with my life. I don't want to go back to that time actually. It was really miserable.

We had an ice storm in 1998. No power, no phones, everything closed, it was mid-winter, sub-zero weather was coming. I had to have someone come and beat my door of my home with a hammer to get inches of ice off my door so I could go out it. I had to find someone with chains on their tires to get me somewhere. I had to try to find a generator, but everywhere I went, they had just sold the last one. Finally I found two, one for my home and one for my Mom's.

^_^ I also remember that time too, so we were really happy when bayantel came into the picture, though the problem with bayantel before is that when electricity is out (brown-out) the phone also stops to function. Today bayantel service is great but we hardly use it because of cellphones. ^_^ Anyway, for me the most difficult or bad experience I have living in our beloved republic is dealing with government people specifically our barangay chairman here in QC. This person (brgy chairman)approved and issued a permit to a construction job that did not go thru legal processes and when we questioned this, his excuse was HE OVERLOOKED THE APPLICATION BEFORE HE SIGNED.. though personally I smell something fishy.. :-(

yes, we all went through this problem. and not only this national problem but along with it was the community problem we were experiencing along with those national problems. as the community problem you are experiencing now. thankfully i don't have much community problem now. before i had them along with national problem at the same time and it was a hell of an experience for me.

the very poor services we have it's sad but it seems that the government can't do anything about it......like in our government hospitals people working in this area don't seem to care if their client will die..........they're getting use of there situation thats why lives don't seem to matter anymore.......government offices one of the most hard to reach because you have to fall in line for hours then if its your turn and your paper is lacking even just a picture or signature you have to fill it up and go back to the long hours of falling in line.........that sucks.........
