how can you tell if a girl likes you?

hi there.. i am kind of in a position wherein i want to make a move on someone that i like.. its been 4 years since we've met.. we have been constantly texting each other and chatting on fb and on messenger as well.. we sort of started dating recently.. i dont know if she considers it a date as i am not making my intentions clear..im really shy in person and i dont want to mess this up.. and if she doesnt like me at least we can remain friends.. (thats why i dont want to mess up.. id rather be the silent one rather than break the silence and wreck the friendship) ..
so heres what happened.. today we went out.. we ate at a resto and we went to have dessert at a nearby coffee shop where the ice cream and frappe was good.. while we were having dessert, she sort of mentioned, "im kinda lookin like a wreck today, never had the chance to fix my hair coz i was in a hurry maybe il be late for our lunch" .. and of course since i never saw it coming i told her "in my eyes you dont look that bad, you're actually pretty" (dont know why i said that.. i guess that was the first thing that came into my mind..) 
.. and i guess i took out a cigarette, (which she hates btw) .. she told me to stop.. and i said "why" and she said it could kill you someday.. and then she caught me off guard again.. she asked "if ever you will have a girlfriend, will you stop smoking for her" and i said "i guess so, why?, if you would ask me to stop id do it eventhough you're not my girl" (that was a very silly answer.. well i cant take it back.. ) .. she blushed and the rest was history..
and heres the weird part, i just logged in on fb, saw her status to be "why am i feeling happy today?!" .. i really dont know what shes thinking, im really shy to ask her to go beyond friends since she has strict parents and maybe they wont permit that she have a bf..
what should i do? should i be the silent one or should i go for it? and in your opinion what was she trying to tell me? i really dont know.. i guess when it comes to ladies i really dont know how to understand.. lol.. im sorry if thats offensive for some people..

I know it 'cause I'm also a girl and I know how girls feel when they like men,lol! Her actions speaks louder than her words,you said she blushed..that's one indication that she likes you and for the fact that she goes with you on a sort of a date,if she doesn't like you,she wouldn't come,waste her time to see you. She will not waste her load to txt you if she doesn't like you theone..you must be smiling now reading this,haha!
I say you should confess your feelings to her. Be brave,be man enough to show her that you like her. I know for sure the feeling is mutual. If you do not do it now..when do you think is the right time? I believe the right time is the soonest!

hey there mtrguanlao.. btw ur kid is cute.. looked at the picture in your profile.. oh and yes hahaha you know it.. i was sort of smiling reading your post.. im kind of in a good mood today.. sadly i havent received a single message from her today.. but its alright.. and yeah i was sort of wondering why she would always say yes if id ask her to have coffee and stuff like that.. she even watched a movie with me one time.. but i dont think she considers it a date though.. i mean she doesnt know we are dating coz i havent told her anything.. but im thinking bout what you said.. why would she bother waste her time with me if she doesnt like me?? or maybe she just treats it like a friends day out or something.. but i would love to step up and tell her how i felt but i dont know what she would say.. il try and converse with her for a few more days.. if something happens il surely start another topic or repose it here.. i really would like advice on how i should do this.. i had a girlfriend but had it for about a month or two since the girl cheated.. so since then ive met her and we had been friends since..

I felt the sincerety on what he had said to me. But I didn't say yes at once,haha! Feeling hard to get,haha! But then I still gave her my sweet YES and we ended up marrying each other,lol!

hey sender621.. how can you tell?? i mean im REALLY BAD when it comes to girl reading.. lol .. i dont know what she means sometimes when she tells me something.. and i dont even know what the heck shes talking about sometimes.. im just listening to her since i like to be with her.. lol .. but im not giving anything away EXCEPT yesterday when i sort of blew it.. somethings just slipped my tongue.. lol

Awww.. that such a sweet incidence that you have mentioned here. I can see some love blossoming between you two there. 
Well if she wrote that status message and as you said she even blushed I guess she likes you. Why don't you try sending her messages which are more like quizzes which ask people about their crush or something of that sort. Her answers might surprise you. And if you two love each other so much then her parents would eventually agree to your relation too. I guess she likes you and her blush was a clear proof of that thing.

haha.. thanks for sharing that swtpareek.. but you know what? i am still unclear.. and i guess i need to know what you mean by sending her messages like quizzes.. im sort of shy to ask her stuff thats really going into like what type of guys she likes if thats what you mean.. and i know that i think im not good for her since shes sooo pretty and im not that good looking .. so thats the bad part..
