My laptop is now three years old, and I still love it. I want to be able to keep it forever, if the RAM and drive capacities aren't so low. I suppose I'm just attached to my things because I could never imagine trading off my laptop for a new one unless it got stolen or was broken beyond repair.

I keep my computer until it starts messing up. Well, I'm only on my second one, but I don't have a lot of money, so I don't really want to be getting a new one if I don't have to.

My current computer is now 12 years old. It was a total beast when I built it back in 1999 (and was horribly expensive to match the quality) but now, of course, it's relatively slow. Thankfully, since I build my own computer every time, it's easy enough to replace parts with better ones when they're too old. So far, this one's had 2 new HDDs, several new graphics cards (I burn them out for some reason, no idea why), extra memory, new sound card, DVD writer... and next up is a change of motherboard since it's so old. It'd probably be easier to just buy a whole new computer, to be honest.

Hi sweetie. The case itself, you can keep forever, if you want. But the hardware need to be upgraded at least every second year. Technology move on and we have to keep up. Motherboards and screen cards are normally the first to be replaced. It gets more expensive though.

Currently my laptop is six years old or should I now say new, lol because after reformatting it I decided to place a brand new hard drive for faster and larger storage space. So unless a pc/laptop decides to die and too expensive to fix, it will be with me until then.

We had our family computer (our desktop) since 2006 I believe. We need a new one because it runs to slow. Its not the traditional kind of computer, its a flat screen computer nice. But it just runs slow. How long can you keep a computer? Until it runs bad. Its been 2 1/2 years now that I've had my laptop. Runs great, but its time of an upgrade. So people can keep their computers and trade it just because they want a better looking model.
