Fish pedicure?!

This is probably due to one of those weird "you live near here" ad filter things (which are normally wrong about where I live), but on almost every web page I visit at the moment there's an advert for "fish pedicures". I mentioned this to the lady at the local pharmacy (because I find it such a bizarre idea and the conversation went that way) and she told me that many places are considering banning them because they can transmit diseases. Personally, the idea of sticking my naked feet in a bucket full of fish is not something I associate with pampering myself. Torture, maybe, but not pampering. I mean... fish? They're slimy. Why would I want them all over my feet?! Has anyone heard of or even tried this? Would you, if you had the chance? I'd love to hear whether it's as unpleasant as it sounds!

I've walked past a place where this is done and it doesn't look so bad. Personally, I wouldn't have it done but I see people's faces and they don't seem to mind, they enjoy the experience. It's been up for a while now so it can't have had any major problems because it would have been shut down by now. I guess it's for the experience to be honest.

It sounds gross to me. I don't want anything nibbling on my feet, especially fish! I can see how they could transmit disease and what if they nibble a little too heartily? Weird things come up from time to time...
