What are you doing to cut back your energy usage? I shut off the power strip for my tv and my microwave until I need them.

Since many months now, I have stopped reading at night and read only during the day. I do occasionally read at night when someone else is using the light. I also do not turn on the light when I use the bathroom, unless I need a stronger light to comb my hair properly. By these means, I have cut down our monthly electrical bills by more than 30%.

Oh by the way, in addition, I do a lot of walking too. I don't take a ride when the weather or sun is not hot, when it's not raining, or when the path I take provides shelter to pedestrians. It saves me money and keeps me healthy.

It seems that the efforts you are making demand big sacrifices. If you are too hard on yourself, you will not be able to continue.

Me and my byfriend have tried to cut back as much as we can to save money. So we have cut back on water useage by taking shorter showers or turning the water off when shaving or brushing teeth. To cut back on electric we leave the heat off when not needed and we keep things that arn't in use unpluged.

Well, you certainly sound motivated. Even a small effort will make a big difference in your electric bill.

I turn my air-conditional few degree higher than necessary, shut off my indoor lighting when not in use, change my energy hungry incandecent bulb into fluorescent lamp, buy star stamped energy efficient appliances and eletronic gadgets whenever possible as ways to cut down my high electricity charges and usage, at the same time remain roughly the same productivity output monthly, it is close to impossible to cut down the skyrocketing energy bill that come in every month no matter how hard i try nowadays, as the power company continue to raise their rate ebvery few months in this economy environment.

energy saving is very important, not only for the environment but also to save money. These are a few things I do 1. I don't have a car 2. I use energy saving lamps 3. I do most of my washing on 40 degrees, towels and sheet on 60 degrees, and always the short program, always a full load. 4. I only heat the rooms were I am, and turn down the heating at least one hour before going to bed 5. Always turn off completely television and computer when I am not using them 6. Close the doors of the rooms so that they stay warm 7. Turn off lights when I am not in that room
