I stayed up for the Royal Wedding

Yes I am a man. Yes, I actually stayed up all night... turned my television on at 3:30 and watched until after mid-day (EST) to watch Prince William marry Kate Middleton.
I remember being just nine years old and seeing the gallant wedding of Prince Charles and Diana Spencer. I remember her death. I remember the boys seeming oh so young and I felt it only fitting to see Diana's first-born being married off.
No I am not from any of the commonwealths of Great Britain (not even close to Canada), but I am so glad I was able to see the wedding live, albeit on television.
I am sure there are many more of you that did the same. The greatest part for me was the SECOND kiss (as the planes were flying overhead). What about you?
Thanks,
Zelo

Well let me start by saying that the wedding was an English wedding and unlike say Canada we have no ties to the Royal Throne or the Queen of England. Having said that, it would have been very nice to have had the Royals bump the wedding up even 2 or 3 hours so more of us Americans (and for that matter countries that are subject to the Queen [Canada and a lot of Caribbean islands]) would have been able to see it live.
Thanks!

Same here. Actually, I really waited for the balcony kiss. Then the most awaited SECOND KISS. I thought there won't be a second kiss. It seems Prince William is a bit shy, also Kate.
I wasn't able to do anything the whole afternoon till night (in my time zone) because of the Royal Wedding.
I still remember when I was so excited to see the wedding of Prince Charles and Lady Diana then. It felt different watching their first born getting married.
Yes, I do agree with you.

The second kiss was a bit of a surprise and was really something done especially for the crowd. If you look at the replay you can see William mouthing to Catherine "Another Kiss?".
I wish it would have been longer but alas William is not a fan of PDA (Public Displays of Affection) so I had a hunch it was going to be short.
Odds were 9-1 in Las Vegas for a 1-3 second kiss. I could have made a lot of $$$!!!

Brits are conservative. They don't like PDA so much.
Too bad you missed that chance to get some bucks $$$.

The time changes might be inconveneient for many of us who viewed the royal wedding. yet, i do believe those of us who watched it would not habe missed it for the world.

Same here. We are from Asia and glad that most of our cable programs here viewed the live coverage of the whole wedding thing. Even in the lifestyle channel where the history of the royal familie's wedding was viewed.
We stayed up all night to witnessed everything and hoping not to missed every single detail of it for all of these will go to the history.
I learned that they were the second couple who had the public kiss in that balcony, the first were Diana and Charles. And the second kiss marks another history.

I believe there was another kiss between Charles & Diana and William and Catherine. I would have to do some research but I don't think they were the only two to do so.
The church was an interesting choice but something I will get into in another post.
Thanks

I believe they are the second couple who had the public kiss in that balcony but they were the first couple who gave two public kiss in that buckingham balcony base on this site http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2011/04/27/buckingham-palace-balcony_n_854507.html
They made another history.

My mum is a super fans of the royal family like you though she did not stayed up late for the wedding because she does not have to but I am sure she will if she has to. I have not seen the one for Diana but I guess it would be marvellous to have a look at it. The royal wedding yesterday was fantastic and the song sung in the Cathedral reminded me of my Choral Society performance last month because I sang two of the great pieces (I Was Glad and Blest Pair Of Sirens) for my performance. I think the kissings should be held longing rather than just a second but the second kiss was certainly a surprise to me.

William is on record as one that does not like PDA (Public Displays of Affection) and I was not shocked that the kiss was so short. I do wish that he felt it was his duty to give the world a longer kiss and the people who were photographing their kiss had to be ready or they would have missed it and that would have been tragic.
Thanks for the response.

My husband stayed up for it too. I wanted to, but I had appointments all day, and I did not want to sleep through them. I watched it on line later.

I am from Philippines and I turned the TV around 2:00 in the afternoon. Then it was 6:00 in the evening already when the wedding ceremony just began. I can't choose the best part of their wedding even their kiss that looks like just common for me. But then of course I can still feel the true love between the two of them. Especially I could imagine Prince William of how gentleman he is and down to earth. I could say that Kate Middleton is lucky enough to have him not because he is a Prince from a royal family that he is popular around the world but having a real man with humility, sincerity in true love, and being loyal is really unique that not all men nor other people are like that. I could really see that Prince William is a serious man who wants to marry Kate because of love.

Charles and Diana as I remember it had much more grandeur than this wedding. This wedding seemed like William and Catherine wanted to do things as much as they could their way while still sticking with tradition.
Remember also that Catherine is 29 years old while Diana was only 19! And William and Kate have been dating for ~10 years now. They looked very comfortable with each other. They looked like a couple!
Hurrah for them!

I have just ignored this event. It means nothing to me. Fankly, i don't understand the excitement all over the world. There are a lot more important and entertaining things than a wedding of two rich kids. Prince William hasn't achieved anything yet, he is not worth of my attention.
