Why doesn't youtube have an audio only option?

I mainly use youtube to listen to music. Most of the times I don't care about the music video at all. So I was thinking why doesn't youtube have an audio only option? It would make the music load much faster.
Would you want to have an audio only option for youtube? Why do you think youtube hasn't implemented this?

Ummm, because it's a video site? 
Why not try listening to music on a music site - there are plenty of "radio" sites out there that let you choose the tracks you want to hear, build playlists and so on.

A lot of streaming music websites I know block quite a lot of tracks because of copyright issues ( even youtube does) or they ask a few bucks per month. I don't feel like paying when I just want to listen a few songs a month. ;)
By the way, If youtube is a video website then why do a lot of songs have an image as 'video'?

Because it's a video site. The only way to work around the "limitation" is to include a picture. Logical.

because it's an video site - if you just want the audio why not use streaming sites or internet radio?
The only reason there's any 'videos'that are just one picture and audio is because of people using it to share usually rare/bootleg stuff that doesn't have a video and uploading it there out of convenience.

Yes, I would also love if they will be having that feature, an option to only listen to the audio and not playing the video. There are times that I only need the audio and I am using youtube downloader and from it, you can grab only the audio, though you still need to download the whole video which still takes time.

It is true,the main reason why they don't give the audio only option is because you-tube is actually a video based site. It's existence and its popularity is just because of variety of videos people upload in it.
There are plenty of sites that will give you audio music. try it out!!

Yep. Everything on youtube is video while a lot of videos are music with a still image and there are songs with terrible video clips so I don't feel like watching and it's also a waste of my laptop's ram memory.
It's not a big deal but it just flew into my head.
