It has been said the truth is always acceptable in all its forms even if it is bitter. It never goes unrewarded. All the religions of the world enlighten the path of truth. The religion which does not encourage us to practise truth, can never be a true religion. It is also said about God - 'Satyam Shivam Sundaram' which means life is True, Benevolent and Beautiful. Only after the attainment of truth, we can become eligible to attain God. Hence, truth is very important in our day-to-day life as even the liars and cheats admit the noble value of truth. But unalloyed truth alone should be our ideal as a mixture of truth and untruth would be as vile and dangerous as a snake hidden in the grass. Truth is dislilked, not because it involves labour to discover it and not because its discovery curtails liberty but because lies and falsehood are often more tempting and attractive. Truth looks dim in the light of lies whereas falsehood appears more attrative and pompous. In the present era, which is called Kaliyug, unfortunately man has grown hypocritical. He thinks what he says not and does what he believe not. He behaves like a chameleon that changes its color according to its surroundings. Modern man does not stand by his words and deeds forgetting that therein lies our evaluation by the God. God judges us on the altar of Truth. Hence, if we want to make this earth a better plae to live in, we ought to practise 'Truth and 'Karma-yoga'. Falsehood is the lowest form of wickedness which invites God's wrath. We must always remember - God's mill grinds slow but sure. Human life is most valuable, particularly at the present Confluence age. We ought not to waste even a single minute of this birth.

Truth is rarely rewarded. It's also very slippery - what I consider true, someone else might think is false. Humans are only capable of opinion and generally-accepted facts (i.e. truth). A better word might be "honesty". Since truth is so vague, being honest is (in my opinion) more important.

There is only one Truth....Plain and simple....Just because you believe something does not make it truth...Am I false or weak if I don't know...that is the truth...If you know the truth great if you don't...I don't know will suffice....anything else is a lie.

There are many truths. Grass is green. The sky is blue. Humans aren't good for themselves. Pizza tastes nice.

I agree with you on some levels. I do believe the truth is important at all times, and I also believe that their is only one truth, but I do think you should be careful and fragile the way you present the truth at times. You have to think about how it will affect others, and if it will hurt others. If it will hurt others you have to think of way to tell them that won't destroy them. Some times you do have to tare things down before you can build it back up, but knowing when and how tell the truth is important or it wont be affective. You should always be truthful and like previously said their is only one truth. The definition of truth is honesty, that which is true in accordance with fact and reality. Much Love

Hi Dear Mallu! First I must Congratulate you for the topic of discussion! Yes, attainment of truth means attainment of God! I would like to put the things in a simple way! Truth doesn't mean that we should speak wrong facts of others and be satisfied that we are following the path of truth by hurting others! Basically truth here is implied for one self and it is not meant to be looked in others! In nature a human being is tend to lie or is afraid of speak the truth every time as he/she is having a fear of getting defamed if actual truth is told to people! May it be any thing then! Under such circumstances when one has committed any thing wrong he/she will try to hide it from others to save herself/himself from the disgrace which she/he may likely to get out of it in the event if it is exposed! So one tends to lie about it! Now the point is please mend your self and your behaviour in such a way that you should never have to hide anything about your deeds (karmas) in your life and you can speak about them without fear! This implies that our conduct and behaviour should be so clean that we should never feel the need of hiding anything from others! If we attain that state, where our every deed in our life is so clean and we don't feel any hindrance in speaking about it openly, then we have achieved divinity, as it is very difficult to achieve it! For that practically we will have to sacrifice many things in life! Thanks for the discussion. I liked participating in it!

I think your notion of Truth is up-to the mark. However, I also agree with one of the comment where in it says, Truth is actually human being's notion of looking at the things in different way. Hence, Honesty and self realization is the most important thing. Man can change their color but can't be termed with Chameleon because, for some this could be the way of attainment of salvation. Read the biography by Swami Vivekanda and read the Bhagwad Geeta. I guess the life would have been so dull without enmity, prejudices, darkness. Because without them honesty, peace, light, hope, and friendship will become valueless.

I agree with you in part, but I do not believe in a higher-being. Reality is subjective and therefore truth is also. We do not need to believe the same truth to be truthful to ourselves and coexist in peace.
