I guess it's either a bug in the browser or a misconfiguration or usage of the browser. .ASPX files are the ASP.NET web pages source files, and you can't reach them directly by any means with your browser. The .ASPX can only be used within the IIS web server only and has nothing to do with image files.
My supposition is that you are saving the real JPG/GIF/whatever image file, but the browser is incorrectly giving it the ASPX extension because of something. Try if after saving the file, you can rename it as JPG, and try opening it.
Also, can you post a screenshot of the "save as" dialog to see what is wrong?
And, what browser are you using? What version of it? On what OS?

oh wow, leave it to me to purchase brand new laptop fresh with bug included. lol
Windows Vista with Crome browser.
It won't let me rename it and it treats it like a download. Puts it in downloads file and won't give me option to go to pictures folder.
Won't let me load it to paint either.
I noticed something else crazy, don't know if this has anything to do with this exactly or what, but I noticed pictures in the downloads file that I didn't put there. Like pictures of my facebook friends or emblems and icons. I never saved any of this.
Oh and thanks for helping!

Have you tried to completely uninstall Chrome, delete the settings, and all its data, and then reinstall it again from scratch? Maybe it helps. Just remember of making a backup of the bookmarks and anything important before.
It also may help us if you can upload a screenshot of the "save as" dialog you're getting when saving the image.

What software do you use to save the image? Maybe you should try free picture viewer and manager such as IrfanView or GIMP. Those two can be used to open many kind of picture foormats, and save / convert them as you please.
Good luck!

I have known many instances of files being saved in inappropriate file formats, but saving image files as .aspx is really bizarre. This is a web page format and totally wrong for images.
There is obviously a wrong setting somewhere in your system, although I cannot imagine where. One simple solution is to select the file format when saving images. If there are no image format options offered then select "all files" and manually name the file with the suffix of .jpg, which will force the system to save it as a jpeg image.

I did a little research on the .aspx file extension and I wonder if you are saving the page or a single image. Which Operating system does your new laptop use?
When I have a problem saving an image, I take a screen shot then pull up paint & save only the image I want. This gives me the option to change the file extension to the preferred .jpg extension.

ASPX is a server-generated web page I believe.I think something malfunctioned somewhere.
Tell me have you tried to save images from other web browser?
Is it still saving images in aspx format?

Theres no need to buy a new laptop. It has nothing to do with your hardwares and I think restoring the system wont fix the problem because of malfactions in the windows settings so the last option is you will have to format the system drive and re-install the windows. It'll surely fix the problem.Good luck!

Hey devideddi, there's an extension for firefox known as Down 'em all! It downloads all elements of a page and you can even instruct it to download images alone. I guess that'll help! Cheers :)
