Other countries get immediate help.....Tuscaloosa and others...only get words

So why is it that when a catastrophe happens in any country but the USA....every internet site in existance...instantly displays a "help________" button to click to donate to help that country. However, I have been all over the internet in the last 2 days....and have not seen a single "help Tuscaloosa Alabama" button to click to donate to help that literally devistated town, not to mention so many other towns and states the recent tonadoes have demolished. And... the President has billions of dollars immediately sent to those other countries...but all Tuscaloosa got was "we'd help in anyway possible"? Why is this?

Because here in the States we assume the government will take care of it. Remember Katrina? And Aid to other countries are more organized.Let's face it , they have everything in place in a few days. Us, it takes us a week just to decide Where the meeting to decide What to do should be! Plus there is an underlined arrogance. We Are Americans , we take care of our own! I remember when other countries wanted to help after Katrina , they were turned away.

That is the natural consequence of America's own propaganda. The super power asking for help? No way! Add, the super rich lifestyle that is portrayed on American TV, where the peoples' living room is bigger than most peoples' entire house! Add, the USA is actually fifty separate states or countries so the other 49 should be enough to help one state in trouble. Keep pretending that you are so rich and no one will help you!

You are right, but why don't the other 49 help? Not a single american web site I have been on has had any "help _____" yet the day after any international catastrophe...the button were up and running.

I find this frustrating as well. Our own internal system was supposed to be fixed after the Hurricane Katrina nightmare, but it hasn't! Personally, I do not think we should give aid to any country, back up NATO in new feuds, ect until we fix ourselves. I think this push to cut the Department of Defense Budget by 40% is a good thing. We can not help others until we fix what is wrong in our own country.

Bravo. I agree exactly. Louisana and Mississippi are still not "fixed and repaired" after Katrina. I see from time to time a short report that people there are still living in FEMA trailers and still no work and FEMA was trying to take the trailers. LIttle has been done, but Obama just sent $2BILLION to Brazil for them to drill oil...why couldn't that, even just half...gone to Louisana. And....before the Libya thing...it was all over that the presidents send that ton of money to countries...and never know where it goes, nothing seems to be done withit... it just kind of dissapears into someones' pockets and year or so later, they are asking for more. EVen Bush admitted that money sent while in his term...he didn't know what was done with it once it went to the bank account of the country.

I don't think no help is given to them, its just that some disasters were reported more than the other that is why. More people are aware of what was happening to the other countries than our own.

That's a good point.

I guess they think America can afford it. I too have wondered about that. I know we are seen as a wealthy nation, but so is Japan. And people send a lot of money over there. I'm not trying to compare devastation, but it does seem very quiet on the Alabama Disaster Relief front. I kind of expected a little more. And they need it. They need the monetary help.

I agree. DOn't remember other than britian and canada helping after 9/11. And now of course since this bin laden thing....Alabama will be totally forgotten by the government and aid for AL will be far from their minds....thus probably forgotten more or less. I heard last night on the news that we gave Pakistan something like $7 billion ( maybe it was million but the point is the same.) and we said "but we want to know how you are going to spend it". Pakistan says "you are giving it to us with strings attached?". How dare they even think it much less ask it! But didn't bother them...they got the money anyway without telling us how they were going to spend it. But for those in our country...geez. you practically have to give your first born before you get any help at all and then it has to be paid back or simply not enough to do much help with.

That is really a twisted little thing about the world. We're expected to help because of who we are and the power that we hold and the influence. Yet we don't see other countries lifting a finger in an attempt to help anyone in the United States of America. It is really one of those things that is just wrong but what do you expect. There are many countries that in general have people that are not fond of us and for good reason sometimes, but still, I doubt that would stop them from accepting the help when it is often. Hopefully someone steps up and helps all too soon. It is really sad what happened, it is sad every time when a disaster helps everyone. Yet, we should not really be everyone's little global piggy bank. A lot of it is public relations granted, but it is really something that helps, no matter what the intentions. Words are nice, but there is really nothing when there are not any actions behind them. After all, actions do speak louder than words.

And after awhile...doesn't this country get the point? I mean, we support them before the tradegy, and then support them after the tradegy...good grief...makes us look like a pinhead...just give the money to everyone else and let ourselves go BK. And do we ever even get a thank you? No. Never heard on. Foreign aid from this country is such a crime. Take care of everyone but our own country. I hope Trump gets in this next time...he will stop that!
