I have been using desktop and my sis-in-law uses laptop. We were discussing which uses more energy is it mine or hers? Please share your ideas my fellow mylotters... We both use these frequently. Your answers will be regarded very important since I'll be deciding whether to but laptop in exchange of using desktop.

Absolutely, the desktop consume more electricity than desktop. I want to buy a laptop to save electricity because my electric bill is increased. I'm always using computer. That could be the reason.

Desktop uses more power than laptop. if u use LCD monitor you can reduce the bill.

I'm actually planning to buy one. But isn't it (LCD) vulnerable than CRT monitor? I have a kid who sometimes used my desktop.

Laptop certainly requires less power than a pc, about pc, how much power it consume will depend upon the screen, the LCD/LED screens use much less power.. Thank you so much for sharing Namastey. ^Kalyani^

defintly desktop uses more energy than laptop... if you have simple moniter in ur desktop then it uses so much energy.. if you have lcd. a lcd uses less than half energy than simple moniter of desktop..in simple moniter, lcd moniter and led moniter.. led moniter uses less energy among three.. and a laptop definatly save so much energy than a desktop.. take care..

laptops use only minimum amount of energy than a desktop computer. In laptop, you can use it even without plugging it in an output unike in a desktop. However, you must use the object that you are more comfortable with.

A desktop generally uses more power than a laptop. It depends somewhat on the screen you are using and certainly on the power saving settings you have but a laptop is designed to use less power and to require less cooling than a desktop.

A laptop need less electricity. When there is low voltage.. we can use laptop but cant use a desktop. Its my own experience. have a nice day.

This is a simple one! A laptop eats up very less power as compared to a desktop. There are too many channels in Desktop that needs dedicated power supply. In laptops energy conservation of prime importance as they run on battery for a lot of time and hence are optimized to conserve energy.
