If you question is about in terms of record, I think its really really hard to even get closer to him has he Tendulkar is and had a very long career. But, in terms of technique and skills, I definitely think the current Indian captain MS Dhoni could reach his caliber. He reads the conditions very quickly and adapt to the batting style that best suit the pitch on the day. Unlike most batsman, he doesn't attack right away but settles on the grease, rotates the strike and slowly progresses and plays his attacking game at the end of the innings so, I think MSD could become a great batsman like Sachin.

Hi,
Of course Sachin is a good player and he is more of an entertainer than a match-winner. We hardly can expect from him finishing off a winning match and I've hardly seen him smashing a half-century or century by hitting a four or six whereas other famous batsmen like Saeed Anwar, Ricky Ponting, Jacques Kallis, viv. Richards, Sanath Jayasurya and Brian Lara do. Even some of the prominent all-rounders like Shahid Afridi, Angelo Mathews, Andrew Symonds, Lance Klusener, Yuvraj Singh and Shane Watson would smash the cricket field with a four or six before hitting century or half-century. We desperately need a match winner,a person who can be relied upon when he is on the grease at difficult times, fortunately we've got a lot many like Yuvraj Singh, Gautam Gambhir,Virat Kohli, Paul Valthaty and even more. It all depends upon how we look into and encourage the upcoming talents. When cricket began to grow, We began to see this superb talent of Cricket gem, Sachin but that doesn't mean that none can equal him. Who knows, any talent could be shown off anytime like how the man Valthaty came into prominence. Do we know him 2 months back? If he keeps smashing like this, then we'll begin to think him as next cricket legend. Do remember how we won the cup and who all were top contributions of our winning team. So, have hope on all! When we had a cricket legend like Sachin when cricket was prevalent lesser than the present time, then what about many young talents who are still looking desperately at the ground for a chance to prove up. Really, there are lot more talents to perform for our nation to bring more world cups!

no one. there are no sachin tendulkar in the current india squad and there will be no from the future squad too. there is one sachin tendulkar and will be the one and only one. you won't find another in the next few decades too. did we get another don bradman or viv richards ? or malcom marshall or wasim akram ? there were only one and there won't be another ever. better forget expecting another or better. lets enjoy the present only.
