Coupons with perforations

I like to save money when I'm shopping so I will usually go thru any coupons I find to see if I can save a little for my purchases. As I did this today, I got a little aggrevated at a booklet of coupons I was going thru. I started just hand tearing out the first coupon I wanted to save and wouldn't you know it didn't tear on those clearly visible perforations. On this occasion I was at home so scissors were close at hand. With a booklet of coupons I had already looked over, I knew there were several more to "clip". I have been in the same situation at the register when this has happened with a booklet. What do you do then? Ask for scissors or just hope they accept a slightly mangled coupon? This discussion is being started to discuss how you handle the situation when the perforations don't work as intended.

I have been known to remove the staple and separate all of the sheets. I think, as long as you do not damage the bar code that you can rip them out. Their perforator obviously is not perforating right.

If only I could get that organized again.

I don't usually find myself at a checkout with a booklet of coupons -- I've generally clipped them beforehand. Having said that, I have handed in slightly mangled coupons with no problem. (Nice to see you're still around.)

Hey BarBaraPrz. Yep, still around though the demands on my time at (and away from) work have increased. There are a few of my regular shopping stops that have their fliers & coupon booklets there at the door. Wouldn't you know I have to pick one up when I have to make an unexpected stop, knowing I have clipped coupons at home...on the counter. Makes me appreciate these stores all the more for their thoughtfulness to the forgetful.

think so. you could also tape it a little bit but if you want to save time, i think that is alright.

In cases like that, I think all that matters is that the UPC code is good and goes through; of course it would be nice to have a neat and organized coupon, but there are times when they are stuck in the newletters and magazines, it's a bit tricky to get them out.
