"Money is the root of all evil?" or "Lack of money is the root of all evil?"

Robert Kiyosaki, in his book, Rich Dad, Poor Dad, introduced a new argument, posited by his Rich Dad, that the lack of money is the root of all evil. He said that we are all motivated by greed and desire, whether we admit it or not. We want to accumulate earthly things and we desire luxuries in life. We work hard all our life trying to realize our hearts desire, or we die trying. What is your opinion on this issue?

I believe that ego is the root of all "evil". Money is just an agent of pride. It's not the desire of such things that is really the issue, but rather identifying with such things, falsely believing that it is these such things which make us who we are.

Hello,
I do not think money is an evil.Money is a main tool to keep our contemporary life.
The question is :''What we use the money for????
On the other hand a lack of money makes people depressed, uncomfortable and pushes them some time to not really right actions.
That is why let's make money and be generous.....

I totally agree with you treven. money is not evil, it has no mins and is not capable of deciding to be evil or not. However I believe that that the excessive love of money is the root of evil. We love money and use people instead of the other way around.

Okay, but why are we posting this on my response? I never said that money was the root of all evil. I never said that money was good or bad. I was saying that believing that things like money makes us who we are is the root of all "evil".

I agree with that author. it is quite true to see many human engage in evil with a view to becoming rich. Politician steal from the treasury of their country to become very rich

the LOVE of money is the root of all evil.. not the money itself! man, in nature, is materialistic..but guided with God's word, we can overcome our greed..

I think money is the root of all evil also sometimes. the thing of it is, we all have to have it, to make it in life. If we didn't have to have money to have things in life and to survive, I think we would all be more equal and alot happier.

'Wrong!' "Money" is absolutely not connected to evil in any way---it's totally neutral (just like The Spirit).
"Lack"-of-Money is a secondary effect of the TRUE root-of-all-evil ... Lewis Black--no! LOVE-of-Money!!
You cannot 'lack' a thing unless you "love" it (or "need" enough of it to satisfy good-providers' 'love' of it).
I 'love' the world ("as I see Our Father do before me"). If it takes 'money' to give that love, America owes me more than its people can imagine! (payable in installations of ... oh, how much sounds good? $10,000 a month?)

it was supposed to be "The love of money is the root of all evil" People allow money to control them instead of us controlling the money. If only people will be contented of what they have and knows how to share with those who are in need everybody is happy.
