Why bury the body so quick? And at Sea? It smells fishy here.

Kudos to all the service members (of all OEF nations) who have served in Afghanistan, Prs. Obama, Former Prs. Bush and especially the Spc Ops soldiers who took out the trash!
This is a great victory in the war against Al Qaeda and other Islamist Extremist terrorist groups.
However, the after math is already not passing he smell test.
While we are told there was DNA verification that the body is that of Osama Bin Laden, there was absolutely no independent verification. I remember how careful Prs. Bush was to make sure there was no question that the guy captured in that spider hole was, in fact, Saddam Hussein. Even the deaths of his sons were verified by 3rd parties.
Was there any such 3rd party involvement here?
Less than 2 hours after Prs. Obama announced the death of Bin Laden, the body was being fed to the fish... which means there is no way to ever confirm anything.
I know the Muslim burial custom is "as soon as possible", and I also realize that it was less than 2 hours after the announcement, not after Bin Laden was killed.. but there was plenty of time to have other parties examine the body, for transparency's sake if nothing else.

They are using the islamic belief that the body must be buried within 24 hours and that there must be no invasive procedures. However, the operative word here is "buried". It must be buried in DIRT, not the ocean or any body of water. From dust you are made and to dust you shall return etc... They believe in all that stuff too.
They dumped that body in water for a reason...they do not want it around for further inspection by someone...

I'm still waiting to hear back from my Muslim friends, so I dont' know what the Muslim belief in "burial at sea" is.

Is there a list of countries that refused his body. I'd be interested in reading that.

There should have been third party verification.
Perhaps they saved the DNA to do this? Hope so.
IMO, they buried him at sea so that there will be no 'shrine' to draw fanatics. And I certainly agree with not putting him in America soil. NO WAY.
I also find the fact that Celebrity Apprentice was interrupted to make the announcemnt. I kinda wonder if Obama didn't wait to do that on purpose?
I am extrememly proud of our service men and women. Our intelligence people and our resolve! I hope and pray this brings some closure for those who lost loved ones on 9/11. God bless them.
One final thought, I sincerely hope that our President doesn't turn this into a political coup and use it to further his campaign. I find his call to former Pres. Bush an honorable act and hope he can keep up being honorable about this and continue to give sole credit to our military and the experts who accomplished this!

I thought the same thing. I trust our military to have done all possible to verify. As for it happening so fast, as some have questioned, the military doesn't have to rely on private labs, they have their own experts. It only takes so long in the private sector.

I have heard rumors so far that one they DNA tested it and that this Op happened a week ago on Sunday so this is week old news the reason for the Delay is that they wanted to make extra sure that it was Him and that they didn't make the announcement to find him making a video laughing at us. Lets just hope the CIA got it right. Also they where looking at this compound for at least 6 months to insure that he was their so it looks like we finally got him as for the quick burial that was to respect the Muslim customs so that Al Quidia couldn't use us disrespecting his body or Muslim practices against us. So we didn't it to save Troops and Americans from the onslaught of danger that could happen if we trampled on there customs. We are in their part of the World .

So why the contradictions? First we hear that his body had to be buried within 24 hours, then we hear it was actually more like 12.. now you say you've head there was a week between the raid and his burial?

Lets hope it's well documented with DNA evidence, photos and video to quell all the inevitable rumors that it's not true. I would assume that they would be smart enough to do all that. I totally understand why he was dumped in the ocean at an undisclosed location. I just hope he landed face down.

Oh, I agree with them dumping his body to feed the fish. I just think 24 hours was plenty of time to get 3rd party verification.
On the other hand, we don't yet know if there wasn't either.

As far as I understand it was to make sure that any regular burial site would not be turned into a shrine for this terrorist. I think that under Muslim law a body must be buried within 24 hours. Seemingly they will be conducting DNA testing to confirm the identity of the body.
Like everyone else I really hope this is not another scam perpetrated by our government or even worse an Obama campaign maneuver. It is dreadful that Obama's scams have made me so cynical of even this great news.

From what I was led to believe, Islamic law will allow for a sea burial in a case where the bo0dy cannot be gotten to land in the required time period. I would guess that like many other areas of religion, it is interpreted differently by each sect, etc but this was the basics I got. I also heard they did everything in accordance with Islamic tradition with the readings and prayers being issued by military Muslim clerics.

I couldn't agree with you more! When I first heard the report I was elated. "AT LAST THEY GOT HIM"! I went out to take care of some business with a friend and returned to continue watching the news coverage on my tv on one of the main networks where I live in Thailnd and then I heard Bin Laden's body had already been disposed of at see "IT STRUCK ME"! Wait a minute, why so soon, just for starters the other question is why did the powers that be rush to dispose the body without showing the world once and for all they nailed the clown. Believe me if an American high level official was excecuted it would have been seen all over the net,tv, and anyother media that would air it. Moreover, there would be no questions the mission was REALLY accomplished. Now, I DON'T KNOW FOR SURE.
What do you think?
