This sounds suspiciously like the idea of drinking loads of water to curb your appetite. In my opinion, anything that replaces proper, healthy food that's full of nutrients with something simple... bad idea. Smoking also curbs your appetite - what a great way to lose weight! While I suspect coffee will help (it contains caffeine which excites your system and causes it to burn a few more calories, as well as filling your stomach), drinking a lot is probably a bad move: it's a dehydration agent and a diarrhetic! If you're serious about losing weight, the best thing to do is cut back a little on calories (aim for the recommended 2k a day for an active woman or 2.5k for an active male), reduce fat intake and increase the amount of exercise you do (walk, dance, laugh, whatever). And don't expect results overnight - that's the biggest fallacy in weight loss: it happens over a long time. Losing weight fast usually just means you'll regain it just as quickly.

My lady enjoys Tae Bo (I also used to but my bad back prevents me from doing it at the moment). Fun and good exercise.

I've seen some of those. It is not the coffee that (supposedly) make you thin, but the added herbs like ginseng, ganoderma, etc. I even bought one and it tasted good, but it did not make me lose weight. Still, proper exercise and a balanced diet are the best way to trim your body.
