what's with the Hat during the royal wedding?

i need an idea as much as culture of the Royal family is concerned. why there is no kiss happened inside the church?

Wearing the hat is a form of showing respect, so I gather from the commentaries. And the Church of England does not say, in their rites, you may now kiss the bride. I think that line is actually only for the movies. Cute and chick, huh. But now all newlyweds are expected to make the kiss, which is actually just a quick smack on the lips!
