Why Do People Lie?

Yes. Everybody has lied, lies, and will lie. Some do it to cover one's mistakes and do not appear as bad. Some do it to protect others, as what you have said. But we all now that THE END DOESN'T JUSTIFY THE MEANS. Whatever purposes we have, whether it be good or bad, lying is still lying. Lying is still a sin. What we need to do is to pray and try to the best that we can not to commit such sin again. :)

it is difficult to come up with a reason for the lies that people tell. i believe they must find it easier to make up a lie than to live with the truth that is real before them.

I really try not to lie because to me their is no personal gain from it. I do believe there are some people who do not lie. Some of us slip and are to fast at the tounge which converts into a lie. For instance, the police pulls you over and tells you he stopped you because you were speeding, your first reaction is to say for some "no, I wasn't" thats a lie in itself, but people like this are so quick at the tounge they don't mean to lie, it just happens to get out of something. I do know people who lie for no reason, just to make themselves look better, but if you ask me it makes them look worst. There is nothing more frustrating than a constant lair and for no reason. I had a friend like this, lied for no reason and to my face. Anyway I don't need people like this in my life, so we are no longer friends.

hello, Yes, that is right, I agree that all people lie, sometimes for their benefits and sometimes not. if you tell your friend that she is beautiful even if she is not, maybe you just see it in her heart that she really do beautiful than others. It doesn't benefit anything but make her feel confident. So, what if you tell her the truth that she is not beautiful do you think she wont get hurt about that? Think all the consequences of the fact that you will say her the truth.

Telling a lie is bad but it is something people can't avoid. Even if we lie to protect other people, be it a small or big lie, it's still a Lie. It's nice to flatter your friends but, in my opinion, It's always better to be true and sincere to your friends rather than comforting them or flattering them with lies. Only true friends can tap your shoulders and tell you everything that's true even if it hurts.

Sometimes, I lie because I don't want to hurt anyone's feeling, but that doesn't mean I make up some stories, I just don't speak and make no reaction, I think being a no comment person also a part of lying because you are not giving the true information.

There is one certainty in life. Anyone who tells you that they have never told a lie is lying to you. When you run into this type of critter keep one hand on your wallet pocket.

It always boils down to what is true. What is important is that everybody must be open-minded that some truths hurt. Lying doesn't make any difference, it just delays the revelation of the truth.

people lie.. because not all people can handle the truth.. not all people are strong enough to face the truth.. though they might live a life full of lies but its there escape to the reality... lies can be good sometimes but its much better to tell the truth..=)
