The Art of Defense

What do you get tired of defending? Your family? Your faith? Your position on certain issues? I get tired of defending my country. Don't get me wrong, I'm going to do it anyway, but I get tired of doing it. I've been avoiding all discussions on Osama bin Laden because I don't want to hear even a few comments about how America did the wrong thing. Granted, the majority of people are glad with how things went down. But since people in other countries can't possibly understand the extent of the attacks that have been put upon us (I do realize other countries have experienced attacks, but not the likes of what the terrorists have done over here), I don't even want to start talking about it with them. It would probably help me if I were less patriotic, but I'm not. I'm always going to be proud to be American. Just as I know so many of you are proud to be who you are. So what do you get tired of defending?

Lets see.... I'm tired of defending my parents to my husband and my husband to my parents. I know a lot of stuff happened that wasn't good on either side but my mom doesn't remember a lot of it so why can't hubby let it go. If I can then he certainly should be able to too. Another thing is, I'm so sick and tired of defending myself over my hearing or the lack thereof. It's the main reason why I don't have any friends in real life and it's the main reason why I don't have a job. I'm sick and tired of having to remind and defend myself against people who just don't get it. Just because my handicap doesn't show like glasses or wheelchairs doesn't mean it isn't there! And NO it is NOT selective hearing! UGH! ARG!

Hi don't pick, I'll be glad to add you to my friends list however, I've not been on here much lately, more like next to never because of a few reasons but one is mainly because of depression and caring for my parents almost on a daily basis and don't have much time or energy to be on here BUT, I do read all the discussions my friends make and make it to my email in-box so I'll be honored to have you as a friend on here! Who knows, you just might get me back on track and back on here again! lol That is, if I have the time and energy to do so.

There is really nothing wrong at defending your country. And defending a part of you. You're country is in someways made the YOU now. We really can't please everyone. No matter what we do some people still just have some things to say. So just know what you stand for, and where you stand. I could say, I would consider you as one of the living heroes of this era. You are patriotic and that is surely something good. Everyone should be. I am not an American but I wouldn't have any problems meeting someone so patriotic and cares much about his/her country. About Osama Bin Laden, let's just say, he met his fate. It surely will come, with or without the Americans doing anything. What goes around comes around as the song goes. As to what I am tired of defending, well I get tired or fed up at times defending my family. Yes, my family, but still I recognize the fact that RELATIONSHIP is important in this life. So no matter what, I would always defend my family. Maybe not entirely tired or fed up, just exhausted at times. But exhaustion can't stop us to get up and go on.

It is really important to be with our family. Thanks be unto GOD for giving me the grace to continue sticking with them. And I thank God for the strength He's giving me to carry on fighting and defending my family. I know that God is always at work for my family.

We have come a long way but still need to work on the race relations. I can strongly agree with you on this a one, I worked for 35 years in the criminal justice field and saw lot of the racist attitude there.

You go girl and I am standing in line behind you defending this country.. Though what I really get tired of defending is my faith, and not with unbelievers, but with believers. You know I don't believe in holidays that are un-biblical, yet we do still observe some due to my family who is not ready to give it up. Yet I find that going against the grain is a lot harder when I am doing it by myself. Oh, my husband does try, every Passover he is right there ready to do the Seder, but then I feel like he isn't doing it because it's right, but because of me and that isn't right at all. It is like an unbeliever agreeing believing in G♥d just for their spouse, it doesn't work that way. Sorry, kind of got off track there for a second. My point is, I am defending what I do and am made to feel bad for not doing what everyone else is doing...

It's quite hard to penetrate the strongholds of our culture and our family's long been practiced un-biblical things. Yet, let us not stop praying for them. God changes hearts. Anyone who would have an encounter with GOD will have a radical change of the heart. Just take the example of Paul. he was a great executioner and persecutor of Christians in the old days. Yet after His encounter with God, He was totally changed. And spearheaded a lot of missions spreading the word of the LORD. And His correspondence with fellow believers have been documented that formed a great part of the new testament. My point then is, let's take heart to endure and continue praying. God is a great God and His power is great and mighty! Let us just allow Him to use us that others may have and encounter with GOD. God bless you! Have a happy life! :D

Thanks chuyins, you are right, but sometimes it gets really hard..That is when my friends come in handy, yet it would be really great if I had a spouse I can lean on instead of my friends..

Yes i think that it's a great trait to be proud of your nation. You don't have to agree with all the choices that the government make especially considering war and peace keeping efforts are completely out of our control as citizens and think that majority of the citizens from both sides would rather the war to end than to have their soilders and families in danger as the war continues and worsens. I live in Australia, and i have Aussie pride. I love my nation and don't support all the choices made in government but also stand by these decision as what has to be accepted and what has been choosen as best for the nation by those who have been elected by majority rules counts. I think you should always stand up for what you believe in, no matter what people think of you.

Oh yeah... i forgot to answer the question! I get tired of defending my reltionship to my family and my family to my boyfriend who all hate each other but are the people i love the most so it makes it very hard as i am naturally a very loyal person and i don't like to hear people speaking badly of those who i love. When it is back and forth both ways it really makes it hard to deal with as each party is as bad as the other and it gives more reason to keep the tension growing rather then ever letting it sleep.

I am not sure that I get tired of defending anything. I do avoid flaming discussions. I do have some opinions. I do get tired of people who do their best to make me angry. I am not going to do that all over cyberspace. Hang in there Amber, be yourself. It is great.

I get tired of defending anything that would not do the same back in return for me. I do get tired of defending something or someone who does not appreciate it though and keeps screwing up and making me look bad for trying to help them out when they already knew they were going to be or already in the wrong.

To be blatantly honest with you..MY COUNTRY! CANADA! That NORTH of the 49th parallel..we ALL don't have "frozen" brains. We ALL don't ride around in "dogsleds!" We DON'T have snow 24/7 for 12! We DO have modern technology! We ALL don't spend all of our time playing hockey and curling..and MOST of us DO own bathing suits for summer weather/NOT snow bathing! We DO have a democracy..and Healthcare that even looks after the downtrodden/homeless & hapless! You, sorry, have just been the brunt of my rant.

I haven't said anything against Canada, have I? I don't recall it if I have. I can understand your frustration. Sterotypes are something I deal with as an Oklahoman. We don't play Cowboys and Indians, we aren't hicks, we don't live 20 miles apart, and we don't say words like 'et' and 'drowneded'.

OH NO! Dearest Ambie..not you, and I am sorry if I came across as a GRUMP! The Canadian stigmatism I have been disgruntled with since a small child..and I still find it looms, boldly today. Even here in the "lot!" I hear you loud and clear...and even in my older years, it is something that still wrankles me...My Father had a business that catered to "south of the border" and my Marina business was blessed with tourists...still amazed at the wonders, that Canada..had sunshine & cars...LOL! And for Oklahoma...I think of it as pure romance..beauty & tranquility, a proud and strong State.

About the same things...like religion....our country...I have two SIL's that are career military...I get sick of everyone cutting down the military for being in different countries! It is not the decision of the troops to be there...it's their obligation to the oaths they take....and their leader whom they must follow is the President of the U.S.....so quit ditzing our military!

Well dear, keep defending your country and don't get tired. If you were born patriotic then that is a noble thing and don't get tired of it. America will always be the center of attraction and destruction because America is America and anything about it, finances, politics, etc. affect the entire world so expect criticisms to come here and there. No one could love a nation the way its own people could. How sad it its own people would criticize and destruct its own county instead of defending it at all cost.

Sometimes I get tired of defending my religion. But nothing else really. And then I do not defend my religion unless I am attacked about it. I will never ever enter a political discussion again on Mylot as people are just zealots. I have enormous respect for your country and love visiting it. I could live in the USA. I especially like the south as I have been to NC and SC - Charleston is magnificent. I've been to Atlanta ans stayed in Tennessee several times. I have been to Boston and all over New England down to Rhode Island and Maine. It is an amazing country with wonderful people. always be proud of your country sweetie

Hi Pam and you said what you feel. I admire you for that so keep up the good work. I get tired of defending my son to certain ex family members. They have him back in Prison before he gets started. It is as if they don't think that people can change. I have decided not to let them get under my nails and let him prove himself to them. They will be the ones that will eat their words. Great discussion and have a great day. Keep smiling.

I cannot imagine how hurtful that is. Instead of being supportive of one to change, people seem so determined to turn negative.

Hi AmbiePam, I will never get tired of defending the people I love and the things I feel strongly about but do sometimes get worn down emotionally and physically doing it. I am pleased to hear that you are proud to be American, I know and love many. They have UK on high alert because of what has happened but I say you guys have done an excellent job in ridding the world of Bin Laden. Huggles Ellie :D

I don't like defending my position when I'm uncertain of the facts. Especially when it comes to politics. I get my facts from my husband because I don't pay enough attention and don't totally understand politics. I ask him to explain it to me in ways I can understand, but it's hard for me to present that information to other people when attempting to defend my opinions. Either way, my opinions are my opinions and I should not have to defend them to anyone. I'm allowed my opinions just as everyone else is allowed theirs!
