Should smoking be banned in public places?

In some areas smoking is already banned and there's sections where you can smoke in but if smoking was banned completely then all you can smoke is at your property, your home. I can't stand smoking and it's disgusting, you're killing your lungs. You may be young but once you hit an older age, you're going to start seeing and regretting. All my uncles, grandpa, even my dad experienced it and they ALL regret it... So, do you think smoking should be banned in public places as a whole? That way, if you want to smoke then you have to do it on your free will or go to a casino where you can smoke ALL you want. Do you smoke? If you do, why do you smoke?

yes, definitely it should be banned. This disgusting vice does not just harm the person who uses it. It gives more harmful effect to those who do not smoke but are exposed.

First of all , I want to say that I too donot smoke and i too hate this activity. The person who is smoking kills himself only. This is a slow poison for humans. Those who really smoke should really visit a doctor and learn how to control the addiction. By the way, as you said there are some sections where smoking is totally banned, and some areas are not, so one can smoke there. But according to me in whole the smoking should be banned. Because if someone is smoking,it is dangerous to himself as well as others who are standing beside him. specially small children are affected with it. So it is also advised that never smoke infront of children or new born babies. Nothing to say more, just want to say according to me smoking should be banned completely.

Even if people go to a doctor, they're not scared until something happens to them, like an illness sadly. I also think smoking should be banned as a whole too, considering how much profit these cig companies make it would never be banned =( I definitely agree w/ you and there are some rude smokers out there but some are considerate!

I believe that smoking should be banned completely in public as well as private places. Smoking as we know how injurious is to our health the government should take necessary steps in banning the smoking. The person who smokes doesnt get infected much as compared the person who is stading aside this provides a problem to us as well as to the common people. In a place where you have some work and there is a person standing beside you smoking this makes things very disgusting we have no other option but to stand at that place. I would so recommend the people who are smoking to please quit as it will be very dangerous to you at the later age.

no, i don't smoke because i knew the effect of this in my health and no one in our family did smoke. i agree that smoking should be banned in all public places and public vehicles, just like here in our province. smoking is are not allowed and poster of the effect of smoking are posted everywhere to encourage smokers stop smoking. and i you caught smoking in a public places you will be fined.

I smoke. I smoke because I like to. I have quit in the past, and I have no problems quitting, but I LIKE to do it. However, I do think that public places should be smoke free (though a smoking area outside would be nice). I understand that not everyone smokes, or wants to be around it, and I can respect that. But, I think that smokers should be able to step outside. Ashtrays should be provided, and anyone that litters their butts should be fined for littering.

Thanks for sharing =) I don't think smokers should smoke but it's your health & not mine but I feel that they should have an area to smoke (I've seen it) but not like they walk and smoke everywhere! And that's a good idea, if they litter they should be fined.

You are right.Smoking is already banned in public places. But,it is not so strictly implemented yet.I too am very much allergic to smoking.People who are effected with lung diseases may suffer very much if they exposed to this smoke. It has to be made strict by the government to not to smoke in public places.

hello, I absolutely agree to you!because if they want to die early why just do that in their homes not in the public which other people can smell even the children are affected to it and sometimes it is a bad influence to them. right? I dont smoke because I know what are the consequences that i will face in the future.

I definitely think smoking in public should be banned as a whole because to me personally, I wouldn't want to breathe that nasty air and then get second hand smoke. People who die from second hand smoke tend to die more faster than the actual person that does smoke. I don't think it's fair that these people who smoke are endangering the atmosphere and endangering the lives of others.

i do believe that smoking in public places should be banned. because not only the person who is smoking is affected with the smoke he/she is releasing. all the people near her/him is affected too. and i also learned that second hand smoke is more dangerous. so all the people around her/him is at risk too. my husband do smoke but he doesnt smoke inside the house because we have 2 kids that might be affected. and i told him to avoid smoking in public places too.

I smoke simply because I can. I only live once, and I feel like I should be able to do whatever I want until I die. I don't smoke a pack a day like most smokers, I'm not even addicted to nicotine because I have strong willpower. There should be smoking sections and non-smoking sections like there used to be.

Hi Dear infatuatedby! I am 50 + old man and I have been smoking since I was23 years old! I started smoking as a curiosity and today I have got trapped to it! though I desperately want to quit this habit , for my work pressure and physical, physiological and psychological dependence I find it very difficult for me to quit the smoking! Yes, as you said, smoking should be banned publicly! In fact in India in all major cities this thing has started. We can't smoke in public, like in offices, Malls, markets, shops, Trains, buses etc. I appreciate it and I strictly stick to it! I know we smokers have no right to harm the health of others by making them passive smokers! Since the time Government passed this rule of banning smoking in the public there is big difference in the smoking habit amongst the smokers. Now a days hardly we find any one smoking in public place.Though initially I found it difficult to control, now I can very well control myself and don't smoke in public places. I can keep myself comfortable today without smoking for say about 2 to 3 hours when I am watching a movie in a theatre! Previously I used to get irritated if I don't get a smoke within half an hour's gap! Thus I think I am mending myself and soon one day I am going to stop the smoking totally! Let me hope for the best! Thanks for the discussion! I appreciate your views and I enjoyed participating in the discussion! Thanks !

I don't smoke, neither do my husband . I am glad to say that here in our place, public places are declared as No Smoking areas. Should you be caught smoking , you will be fined a corresponding fee for first offense, 2nd , etc. How i wish all over the country, Philippines, they will do that too.
