I have met lots of people who are highly educated, extremely intelligent but living miserable lives. Why do you things happen this way?

Well, from my point of vies, there are people whoa are intelligent or smart in education and there are people who are intelligent or smart in life.
People who are intelligent in education sometimes not intelligent or smart enough in life. It's like what they do is applying something from the book which is random. But i'm not saying that these people are not smart in life, maybe they just follow the rules, the steps, focusing on the 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, steps towards success.
And people whom we call the intelligent or smart in life are the people with average education not so top number one in academics. But smarter in life. They are the people who apply things the way they know, based on experience, on everyday life and on common sense. Things that they learn from the environment, from other people, and from everyday experience in life.
That is why sometimes even the highly educated people don't succeed. Because they don't combine education and common sense. Because if you know these things, you''l be able to reach the top.

what do you mean by miserable? is it mean poor? i've read in news that there was a smart mathematician who can solve hard equation living in a small dirty apartment and when they ask why do you lived here he answer "i've got everything i need in here..." so if you mean is poor then maybe because money to them means nothing... some scientists feel that their happiness is not having alot of money but having solved hard problems...

Education alone does not guarantee success. I have lots of classmates who you wouldn't consider bright back then but they are the ones earning the big bucks now. In the real life, after school, you need to have it - the "balls", the "chutzpa", the "bravado" - whatever you call it. The passion and the desire to succeed.

Probably because of lack of employment or sometimes they were choosy to what kind of work they want to land on or maybe they have their own personal reason.

That is true. I think the reason behind this are they have the wrong choice of field of work, lack of available jobs for them or simply being unproductive. For me being intelligent is isnt enough to be successful, you must also be very productive. Being a jack of all trades is one of the keys to be successful.

I've no idea. I'd have to say, most of the highly educated and extremely intelligent people who I know are leading happy lives.
I think there's a fair number of people who _didn't_ get highly educated looking around desperately to justify their decision. So every time they see someone who's highly educated and unhappy, they remember it especially. "Look, I was right!"
Whereas in fact what's right for everyone is different. I'd have been thoroughly miserable if I hadn't been able to continue my education to a high level, because it was something I really wanted to do. That doesn't mean it would have been the right decision for everyone.
