Hello Lotters,
I was just reacting to what manny said in his latest conference. he said that the Greatest Fight of his life is Fighting Poverty and not with Mosley. i think that's an insult if I were Mosley, i was hoping for this fight and manny is like not taking me seriously "impression".
That is every Filipinos Battle and struggle to fight poverty.
He shouldn't be selfish and tell that such but he should have included us knowing it's every Filipinos responsibility in fighting poverty, not just him. my point here is that he should focus on the match instead of adding a bit political thingy in the conference. Didn't mean to criticize him there but that's what i understand in the message. .
Have a Nice Day.

Yeah, he should've just left the politics to the politicians. (Then again, he is one, isn't he?) He should just stick to what he's good at and what our people look up to him for. He's not a good legislator, in my opinion. He doesn't act like it and he probably will never grow into it.
I used to really look up to him for being a shining example as a Filipino, but when he started running for congress and all that jazz, I liked him less. I still admire him as a boxer, but I don't like him as a person anymore.

I always wondered what he really does in Congress and his constituents. The only news that I got about him is either his boxing matches, his concerts or any PR stunt that he or his PR team pulls. As for the real politician at work, I haven't seen anything yet.
Like you, I admire Manny as a boxer. I really do. When he run for Congress, I thought he lost it. When he won a seat and became a politician, I barely believed it. But his constituents voted him and that's their concern.
Sometimes, I think that everything that happens in his world is going way too much too fast on his head. I don't how he handles it. But i believe he's still a good person despite all the limelight.
The only thing I am concern about is this mania that people have with him. He's being put into a pedestal for all his achievement. I just hope he doesn't fall.

Yes, everyone loves Manny a little too much. He might be getting a little big-headed about it, but he's still a good person. He hasn't detached himself from the world. Unfortunately, I don't think he's done his part as a congressman, which is, in fact, to make and review laws. He does a lot of good stuff related to helping people, but that's not really his job.
I hope he doesn't fall, but stumble (politically) just enough to see the error of his ways.

I think he earned the right to speak out and become a crusader against poverty. But will he walk the walk and not just talk cheap like most of our politicians?
So far I see good signs that he is really willing to do more than be a talking head on TV commercials and for politicians wanting to be elected. He joined an NGO that provides cheap housing for poor families, and he is bent on building the public hospital for his constituents.
Yes, the fight against poverty is the fight of each and every one of us Filipinos. But it doesnt hurt if we have someone who is highly popular, influential and respected who are willing to do extra effort to get things done. If he boasts while doing it, then I guess he earned the prize. I remember reading about Magsaysay wanting the media to catch each and every photo-ops of him helping the poor. I think I could live with a not-so-humble politician as long as he or she can bring results that will help Filipino people in every way possible...without of course plundering their tax money.

chavit must have been teaching pacquaio too well when it comes to the political game. haha =P
i mean, why even talk about poverty when you are in vegas in for a fight in just a few hours... that sure seemed like a well rehearsed answer to every question. nyahaha
i think you do have a point there too, that it may seem like an insult to the opponent. hehe

Well, if he's really that confident then by all means let him say what he wants to say. At least he's not trash-talking like other boxers out there. If that message was politically driven then what do you expect from a politician?

Yes we have our own opinion and conclusion about what we are goin to think. If Manny said the his greatest fight in life is poverty then Mosley well that's what his opinion. I think he says that when he was not yet rich and he fights on a small ring. He doesn't have anything basic while he was on fight and struggle. He experience also the poverty that is why he said such thing. Well lets help ourselves to make up on poverty starting to our own down to the family and so on. This is just an opinion.

Knight, if Manny Pacquiao says is true then, he would have won that fight. Last time I remember he's rich enough to be compared to successful and prominent businessmen in our country. He can retire and his whole family won't starve and can go from pre-nursery to college several times if they so wished. And please let us not pull a popularity survey. Everybody knows that he's going to top that.
And I would agree with your introspection of Mosley. It would kill the enthusiasm out of me. I mean, 'I ready to fight with you and you you're leaving here hanging?'. Insert your preferred curse word here.
Poverty is every citizen's problem. Not just the government's but everybody's. There are people who always worry if they would survive another day or if there is even opportunity over the horizon.
I guess Manny just wants to highlight his rough climb from rags to riches. But even if that is really part of his life, it is moot point to mention that fact in a boxing fight where his focus should be. His fight should have the spotlight, not some memories that he wishes to reminisce. He's free to do that anything after the match.

Hey there Letran Knight! :] I agree with you on the part of "Poverty is every Filipino's Battle"... Wow! You know, that really hit me.
The way you mentioned about Manny mentioning some political related stuff on the conference is pretty funny to me. Alsothe thing about Mosley.. the part of not taking him seriously is also kind of hit the idea in me... "yeah.. it seems Manny is being confident that he will beat him." THen again, our brave fighter isn't the boastful type. Anyways, good luck with him on the fight. I hope he wins.
Happy mylotting to all mylotters and God Bless!

yes, that's true. He should focus more in training for his fight with Mosley. No need to tell others that he is fighting poverty because everydody is. It's still to early to campaign for his self .

You have the point there bro. Manny should focus on her fight, because Filipinos had a big hope for him. Every fight of him, was a fight of every simple Filipinos. Here in my town, every time manny pacquiao fight, its like a holiday. Almost people here are watching every seconds of his fight. GO manny...go PHILIPPINES

Dude! What if that really is his greatest fight? You know, there is more to Manny's life than just his battles on the boxing ring, right? Okay, I know you didn't mention this, but his battle for his family's welfare and his life is by far greater than any battles he could ever have.
