I have lots of hobby that I spend on. Collectively, they cost me a lot, especially since some of them are pretty expensive. (Taste testing coffee in all the cafes in our city to top the list). However, I think spending half of your salary on stamps may be a bit too much. Maybe you should use just... I don't know, 20% max? It depends on how much you earn. If by your present pattern of spending you are still able to afford your basic needs, buy your stamps and still have leftovers, you could probably allot more money for emergency funds. Also, I don't think your stamps are going anywhere. Delaying buying a set for a month shouldn't hurt.

I haven't tasted it yet. I hope there's a cafe in the Philippines that serve that. I would want to taste it. As for your stamp problem... maybe you could consciously stop yourself from buying by telling yourself stuff that will make you feel bad about buying it. XD Usually works for me. Whenever I'm tempted to buy a lot of books from a book sale, I think of all the other things I could buy with the same amount of money. Good luck with your money problems and I hope you get a nice collection of stamps too.

Those stamps you bought may go up in value over the years. So, tell your friends it is absolutely not a waste of money. If you do your research well and buy stamps of good quality, then I don't think spending half of your salary is really that much. It is like you are saving half of your income, a very good way to build up your wealth and having fun doing it as well. It is also good to have a hobby which can enrich your life. I am sure it gives you pleasure when you are browsing your own collection and exchanging ideas with your fellow collectors. Very good for you.

Morris - Binne's father preparing to enter the show ring at CAC Brasov 2011
Hello Cieldz, Having a hobby makes us spend a lot of money and those who don't have a passion will seldom understand us. I have a hobby, too. I'm mad about dogs and, of course, I own one. I longed to have a dog of my own since I was a child but my parents didn't agree to raise a dog in our apartment. They used to say that dogs should live only in a yard. As soon as I finished my studies I moved alone and I got my first dog. Since then I've been spending lots of money on this hobby of mine. I couldn't say I spend half of my revenue on my passion. In fact, I have never kept trak of the expenses related to my interest, but those who see me "wasting" my money on my dog say I must be crazy. They are right, I am crazy. I am crazy about dogs.

mini-Morris - This is my dog, Binne, in a picture taken today
Oh, I'm sorry to hear about your loss. I think you suffered a lot and you still miss your Chow-Chow. You're lucky to have the Maltese to help you go through all this. Does the Maltese seem to miss the lost friend? No, Morris is not my dog, he is my dog's father. She looks like her father a lot! My friends who know my dog, Binne, and they know Morris as well, like to call Binne mini-Morris. Here's Binne:

I used to collect stamps when i was in high school, but i don't buy them. I get the stamps from the stamps of the envelopes that contains letters from my penpals. Letter writing to penpals was my primary hobby before. But because of the different stamps it brings along, i then start collecting stamps. Hmm, you are different from the rest of us girls, because you would prefer to spend on stamps rather than on shopping for clothes, shoes and bags . Anyways, if you have the money to collect stamps, then go on, as long as you always have the money for it.

I think that have a hobby is a good thing, when i was a teenager i very like a singer named sun yanzi from Singapore, i was so creazy about her, she is really a good singer, among that time, i spend so much money to buy all thing which has a relation with her...Now, this year she publish her new album and i found i am so calm with that. didn't have so many passion about these kind of things... so sad to found that i am growing up... So, in my opinion that if you have a hobby, please insist on that. but, should rationaly to spend the money on that.

Dear friend, When I was kid I too had a hobby like yours, also spend a part of my saving during my childhood. Now I hardly have this hobby and whenever i get a part of it I put into my old collections. Spending your money is your freedom, also it gives you a mental satisfaction, I feel it your way of enjoyment and your hobby is a passion for you. I feel it your choice. Moreover I do not find any fault in it. I feel some sort of respect for you. Happy mylotting

i used to collect stamps too when i was small but that didn't last long because i was so young that time, it didn't really matter to me that much. well if you have some money for your hobby then i guess that's alright, the bad thing is if one has no money and even borrows from someone some money just for that hobby. i like shopping, i love clothes but sometimes, i spend even more money on just food. i love to eat that even though the food is quiet expensive. that's why sometimes i can't see where my money goes, not in my closet or anywhere inside the house, but in my tummy hehehe

I have a hobby of buying new technology, office supplies, and cleaning supplies, but I always put my financial requirements first. On my checks I'll save, invest, or pay bills with 80% of my money, and put some money aside for me to enjoy. And from the 20% that i put aside for enjoyments, on the top of the would be money spend on my hobby. You'r hobby is fine, your problem is money management.

aha .. I know, you certainly aspires to be a postman, so you have a hobby of collecting stamps. ok seriously now. as a woman who would become a wife, should you already have to learn to manage the financial. yah but the hobby is not can be blamed. advice from me, try to reserving 10% for your hobby, the rest for your needs and savings in the future.
