Today my english oral teacher did a reaserch on our class, and the story is as follows
having been in the Lousisiana,U.S for only two months,16 years old Japanese student Mr.Hattori received an invitation along with his american friend John,to a Hallonwen party organized for Japanese exchange students.Dressed in a costume immitating actor John travolta.M.R hattori was riding in the car driven by John, upon their arrival at the Peair's residence in a quiet working class neiborhood, the boys mistook the similar address and the Halloween decorations on the house as th eactual site of their party, and proceeded to step out and walk to the front door..
M.R hattori and John rang the front bell but began to return to the street where John had parked his car after no one responded the doorbell ring, inside the house ,however,Mrs.Bonnie Peairs had opened and looked out the side door and saw teo boys whom she didnot recognize.Mrs.Peairs.carring her 2 year old daughter ,was startled, quickly locked the door and then yelled to her husband .
M.R hattori and John are still at their car when the door opened.this time Mr.Peairs, armed with a gun yelling "freeze".simutaneously,Mr Hattori walked towards Mr pearis saying"we are for the party".unaware of the danger.John, seeing the weapon, shouted after his friends, hyt his warning was too late as Peairs had already fired his weapon and run back inside locking the door again.Hattori died on the way to hospital.
my teacher said the couple is unguilty and i'm totally shocked when i hear of this result and feel sorry for this innocent boy,he is just 16 year old and Mr Peairs'family is too subjective and i think they should be also punished ,what is your opinion,do you think Mr Peairs is unguilty?

I think Mr Peairs is guilty. He do have the responsibility to take care of his family and his home but he just have to warn the visitors first or ask them about their intention in knocking at their house. The students did not even force the door to be open, they just knock on it, what is wrong on knocking on the door? maybe they would just like to ask or inquire for something. Right?

A person has the right to protect their home. However, I do believe this rule applies only if someone you don't know is in your home. The man should've just warned them to get in the car and leave. I think the elderly man over reacted to his wife's calling him. The kids were leaving and they weren't hurting anyone. Best Wishes!
