I am not so good in drawing and painting. Nowadays I am worring for that. Here in germany painting and drawing are important subjects. All the children are encouraged to draw and paint. But in Sri Lanka when I was doing my schooling drawing was not considered as an important subject. I feel sorry for that. what about you. are you good in drawing? Is drawing considered as an important subject in your country?

Hmm, i didn't know that drawing and painting are important subjects in Germany. Is that part of College Subjects or is a specialization in college? Here in the Philippines, if you are good in drawing, then you can choose Architecture for your degree to pursue in College. But it was never a part of the curriculum in school.

I wonder drawing is not in schools. I meant German schools. My children are school going children. I don't know about college and university studies. here in schools it is an important subject. important means children are encouraged a lot in this subject. And there is a combination between drawing and bio also. As you said there is a conne3ction with Architeture also.

Oh that. I remember in my elementary days, we have ART as subject. there we get to draw and paint. The best ones will be placed in a board for everybody to see and admire. Of course, i want my work to be on that board, so i make them as beautiful as i can. Luckily , my work is always chosen.

I've been told that I'm good at it. However, I don't find it is something which should be graded on. Art, in my opinion, is something particularly subjective so no, I don't think it is an 'important subject' in school in terms of a grade. Although I do think having some practice in it isn't so bad, whether you're good at it or not. It's just another way to express oneself. :)

We can't say "Without art thewre is no life." But we can say "with art there so many things to enjoy". There so many people with drawing tallent. But only some countries encourage the hiden tallent.

For me painting is the freest and most complete way of expression. With color you can express feelings hot or cold and aggressive state of neurosis or state lines for peace and harmonious curves reverie. Most important, however, is that you can create your own universe and the ideal world in which you want to live without you no one can censor. Making a parallel between painting and fashion, I think that both the principle of color depending on mood and that of materials and textures that you prefer depending on our personality, we can help articulate and convey a certain condition we have at the moment.

Yes, it also gives us chance to express our feelings. Through drawing we don't want to hide our feelings. For many people it gives mental peace also.

I like painting and it is one of my hobbies. However, here it is the same. The school doesn't pay attention to the painting lessons. The most important subjects are always Chinese, English and maths. I do think that painting is important. It is as important as music but it is ignored. It is something wrong with our education. I love China

I had art lessons in elementary school. Drawing was a part of those lessons, but we also did many other things: We painted, we made sculptures out of clay etc. I didn't like the art lessons in elementary school, that might sound strange, because I am an artist today, but in elementary school we weren't allowed to choose our own projects and we got very specific assignments. I wasn't really able to experiment or use my creativity, and I guess that is one of the reasons why I didn't enjoy those lessons. In most high schools art was also a compulsory subject, but not at my school. I finished high school in 2 years instead of 3 years and we had no creative subjects. I like drawing, but I don't draw portraits or things like that. I only draw fantasy pictures. Some of my drawings I turn into sculptures later on.

I think that drawing is something that should be done for fun and not be forced. It is really not unlike writing in many ways. There are a lot of people who are pushed to write in a certain way, using a certain method, and it really does stifle their creativity. Or worse, it completely kills their interest in the topic at hand. The same thing can really be said for drawing, as no doubt, many have lost their enjoyment from it due to being pressured. I think in the end, you either are good at drawing or you are not good at drawing. There is really no two ways about it. You are going to have to try your best, but don't get discouraged. My drawing ability ranges from moderately okay to utter trainwreck depending on the situation and the pressure put on me. The same thing really does happen to a lot of people. So just do what you feel you are comfortable with and don't put the pressure on you.

Hi... Don't worry.. In my school days ..even in my college days also i was poor at drawing. But i Love that most at the same time. and so i have given a special timings to excell in that. and i finally succeed. Atleast to some extent i had succeeded. So i can suggest that you can develop an interest rather than treating it simply as a subject and practice well so that even you can teach it in future. All the best friend... Good day...

I am not really good in drawings but can copy the picture if provided. But if i have to do it using my imagination then i fail lol. anyway my sis has always been a good art/painting student. In our country it's not really important. But yeah if you're going to take art as a major then it is really important =)

Hi.. I really love drawing, when i was a child i always draw some cartoon characters, anime and especially i want to draw the beauty of nature the mountains, trees and seas.. That was really my past time when i was a kid. When i was in college i took up engineering and many drawing we make, just not a simple drawing like i do before but a technical drawing... It really depends on the person if he really love drawing, you can enjoy life when you are happy to what you are doing.have a nice day..!

I think I'm pretty good at drawing/sketching but I suck at painting because it's too messy for me. In Canada, it doesn't seem that school drawing is really an important subject.

Germany must be a nice country for people who want to excel in drawing... In the Philippines, drawing isn't really given special attention, but it's a regular subject. However, since there are too many students for the teacher to go through, their improvement isn't prioritized. They're just subject units one has to take. As for painting, there is no regular subject that focuses on it. It is merely a medium that a student can choose to utilize in art subjects. I'm not that good at drawing, but I do like to draw. However, I had to take lessons outside of school to get instruction on the matter.
