I would much rather see them in goth than see them wearing the short shorts, plunging tops. I find nothing wrong with it, it is just a fad with them anyways.

it's not always just a fad. but even if it's not, it's harmless. just a style of clothing, a style of music, a style of architecture and a style of literature.

Kids have every right to express them selves. If they want to dress in all black and wear black makeup then let them. Eventually most will grow out of it and become responsible adults.

Yes, I have to agree with you on that, I have a daughter that was into goth, and she did grow out of it eventually.

and if they don't grow out of it they can still be responsible adults.

I don't see anything wrong with it. School dress codes should have some effect on what kids choose to wear to school..but most don't object or enforce them. Goth is one of the least offensive manners of dress I see on kids today.

Well my understanding of it, is they wear black makeup black pants, black shirts, have black hair, pretty much everything they wear is black, even down to the finger nails. That is the way my daughter was anyway.

well, personally i dont understand it...i wear a lot of black, but that's more because i dont like bright colors...and you cant go too wrong with black if you wear normal clothes. i am not a fan of goth, but to each his own i guess. i feel like for a lot of teens, it's just a phase they go through...but hopefully they will outgrow it sometime. honestly, it's kinda creepy to me...but i guess i dont have the right to allow or prohibit someone from being goth.

Personally I dont care for it. Glad my kids are grown and not in that stage or even consider it. But, what ever a person is into is there choice and I do respect and honor thier decisions.

they might still get into it. goth doesn't have any age borders. a lot of people have been goths since the 80s. I mean Robert Smith is hardly a teenager, bless him.

I see a lot of people have wrong opinions of Goth. Hey, until I got a chance to meet my cousin and her friends, I was too. Goth for kids isn't bad, if done right. There are some little girls, with these hairfalls that the big girls use. It's like dressing up or playing at a character, but without having to wait for halloween or whatever. It's a fun way to express yourself. A good expample of some of the lighter side to goth can be seen thru my store: http://www.cafepress.com/tragedyann

I think it's cool when people have the confidence to express their inner self outwardly in the clothes they wear. When I was a teenager I just dressed like my mother because I didn't have the confidence to find my own style. I was too scared that people would judge me if I dressed unconventionally. So I always like to see kids doing their own thing without fear. And let's face it a lot of teens are pretty miserable and full of angst. Dressing all in black and listening to sad or angry music is a way of admitting those feelings and dealing with them. Much healthier than bottling them all up inside while pretending to be all happy and bright and fun.

I think kids should be allowed. Goth isn't a bad thing..in fact, most of the time if your kid's a smart kid, them becoming a goth is probably a very good sign. It can even improve their lives and help their learning. Or at least it SHOULD, since it's been noticed that gothic kids seem to learn more about things they're intrested in. Goth's more than clothing for many kids, it's a lifestyle..complete with history, art, music..so many of them go into studying these things. And besides it's called expression. All kids should be allowed to express themselves..especially if they're doing it in a good way. It may help them grow up to be responsible adults.

so yeah. in addition to what else I've said. of course children should be allowed to dress in goth clothing if that's what they like. it's more attractive than a lot of more fashionable styles of dress, and can be very elegant.

I think it depends on how old the kid is. I wouldn't like to see a 5 year old dressed like that but once they reach maybe 13 or 14 that's the time they are going to want to express themselves and if clothing is the way they do that then there shouldn't be a problem. It's better than expressing themselves by throwing bricks through windows. It's normally kids who dress "normal" who do that kind of thing, those who dress differently whether it's Goth or anything else are usually perfectly nice people so I don't see any reason why they shouldn't be allowed to dress like that if they choose to.
