Well this political junky is now hyped up and ready to go. I drove to Greenville yesterday for the Tea Party Rally and Republican Primary Presidential debate. To say I was a kid in a candy store would be an understatement. LOL.I was on political cloud nine. I got to see Gov. Nikki Haley. I meet Gary Johnson,Ron Paul and John McManus. YEAH!!!! Plus many many others. Well people need to start declaring. I am ready to jump into this election cycle with both feet. Did you watch the debate? What did you think? What do you think about a Ron Paul/ Gary Johnson ticket? That is what I would LOVE to see. Are you ready to get this party started? Are you going to volunteer on a cammpaign?

I had to work. Even if I was home I do not get satellite TV. I wish I could find a video somewhere. Any ideas?

youtube has the debate on it I bet. I will try to find you a link. http://www.youtube.com/results?search_query=greenville+republican+debate&aq=f That should bring up the videos people put up of the debate. I went. But I also set my tv to DRV it so I can rewatch it and analize it later.

Was able to listen to some of his other speeches but none from the debate except sound bites. I'm sure they'll show up on YouTube soon, thanks for the lead in.

I will see if there is a way to get it downloaded from my DVR to my computer and then post the full debate online somewhere. Let me check in to that.

You were the first person I thought of when I saw that the debate was in SC; I wondered if you'd be there but I had no idea if you were close enough to Greenville to go or not. I'm so glad for you that you got to go because I sure understand what it's like to be a political junkie. I guess it takes one to know one, right...lol? You didn't manage to get into Frank Luntz's focus group, did you? It seemed that most of those people were pretty angry at the potential candidates who weren't there. Is that how you feel too? I must say, it sure was a line-up of replacements and they didn't even have a Keanu Reeves to quarterback them! I'm not knocking Ron Paul; while I don't agree with him on everything, he does make a lot of sense on some issues and he's a he11 of a lot more likable than his son. However, I'm afraid we all know the GOP would never "let" him be the nominee for President. One thing that really scares me with Paul is that I know he'd allow our entire economy to collapse by not raising the debt ceiling. People don't realize what they're asking for when they take that stance. It would be a government shutdown on steroids with NO Social Security checks, no Medicare, no government services of any kind and our financial credibility would be totally destroyed. The rest of them were about as boring as it gets. I was reminded - as if I needed to be - why I was SO happy when Rick Santorum got beaten out of the Senate. A more arrogant a$$hole doesn't exist. I'd seen Gary Johnson on "Real Time With Bill Maher" already and I actually kind of like him but nobody who is seriously in favor of legalizing pot would ever get very far, especially in the Republican party, do you think? Cain got pretty high marks from the focus group, and he was kind of witty and entertaining but, for one thing, I don't like the idea of a business man being President and for another, much bigger thing, I heard the one time in the past when he'd run for office he'd attacked his opponent as being pro-choice because he was in favor of allowing abortion in the case of rape and incest. You KNOW how I feel about people like that! Tim Pawlenty was about as boring as I'd expected him to be. I'm thinking of maybe volunteering for my Senator who is up for reelection and I'm anxiously awaiting an announcement of who will be running against my newly elected House Representative who is already in deep, DEEP trouble for voting for the dismantling of Medicare. It was a 4 hour drive each way. But I was not going to let that stop me.LOL I got home at 4 this morning because I stayed for the meet and greet with Ron Paul afterward the debate and the straw vote. No I did not make it on the focus group. RP people were not welcome and just about everyone who is any in the SCGOP knows I am a county head for C4L. I actually had never been to Greenville before...nice city or at least the part that the debate was in was. The general feeling from conversations that I got from people at the debate and at the Tea party rally is that they feel slighted by the ones who did not come. Those candidates will have a hard time overcoming that. I have to say I did not care for the line up except for Ron Paul and Gary Johnson. Both are very smart, humble men who really just want this country to be as great as it can, while protecting the liberty and rights of everyone in it. I really enjoyed getting to talk to them. I spent more time talking with Gary Johnson because he was more accessable. Ron Paul had a HUGE security detail so I only got to talk to him for a couple of minutes...plus there were a lot of other people waiting to meet him. Getting to meet and talk to the guy from the John Birch Society was also a HUGE thing for me. LOL. Cain had good sound bits but I question wether or not he could actually handle the job...running a company is different than running a country. As a CEO he got to be like a dicator when it came to making decisions. As president you actually has less power than congress...so he can say he wants all this and that but if congress doesn't play along he won't get jack. I wonder if anyone has clued him in on that. The other two reminded me of used car salesmen and upon meeting them (for a couple of seconds) it reaffirmed that impression. Arrogent, out to "smoosh" the crowd. You know the type. I hope you are wrong about RP. If he announces he will run I am going to basically live this election cycle til it done. I honestly believe in him and his message. In the arrogant, scandle ridden, snake oil sales men of a political climate we have in this country we need to promote candidates like Ron Paul and Gary Johnson who are honest and can be counted on to stand by what they say. They honestly care about this country and not just lining their wallets with lobbyist money. I hope you do volunteer for your Senator. I know you enjoy the process as much as I do.
