hello everyone, today i was invited to a wedding feast. there i saw a lady who was writing with her left hand here handwriting was nice. she could write so fast. i saw her doing works using left hand as i do with my right. one professor of biology was there and he said, "whether we will be right handed or left handed is decided by our genes, we wear watch in left wrist, but left hand users wear in right wrist". i was amazed to know this. can you tell me if you are you left handed or right handed? where do you wear your wrist watch - on the left or right? please comment. ann

i think it just all comes down to the fact that the right side or the right hemisphere of our brain controls the other side of the body which is the left. and the left side of our brain controls the right side of our body. When someone is in hemiplegia ( a condition wherein the other half of the body is paralyzed )let's say the affected part of the brain is on the right side, then the manifestation or the affected part will be on the left side of the body. BTW, i am a right-handed person and prefers to wear wristband or a wristwatch on my left, I think that is innate to us because that's the part we are comfortable wearing the thing, but we do make our writing and other stuff using the right because it is what they call our dominant hand. I don't think people with good handwriting are usually the left-handed ones, i would not agree to that because I too have a nice handwriting as my friends and classmates say. I used to presume that maybe it's because of the drawing skills that I have. But I don't really know wether it is because of the genes or anything.

hello asiacevillar, i agree with you that its not usually the left-handed who have nice handwritings. but i see many artists who are left handed. i say that it is always a talent to have beautiful everything from handwriting to the way one carries oneself and it doesnt have to be always a left handed. thank you for your response. ann

Sweety I am right handed, i write with right hand, do most of my job using right hand, wear my watch on the left wrist, but i tell you i can write using my left hand too, though not fast, i used to do it for fun and the habit remains lol. I had seen a video in which babies in womb were shown, there one was using his left hand to pinch his twin sister.., he must have grown as a left hander.. Thanks for sharing Cheers, have a wonderful day. Professor ‘^Bhuwan^’. .

hello professor, what a cheery day it is today! i do a real hard time trying writing with my left. everything that comes out or drawn becomes different. like i write "a" and what comes out of it is a sperm. hahaha! i tried drawing a flower and it looked like a tree. guess a talent is God given. and when God showered talents, i was asleep. have a nice day. ann

I'm right handed, and I wear my watch on the left. My dad, brother, older daughter and son are all left handed.

Hi tigeraunt. I am left handed but I wear my watch in my left wrist not right..My husband is also left handed. I believe that there are reasons not just genes which will make a person left or right handed. I am the one who take care of my baby since she was born, I noticed it that she is right handed. Because I and my husband are both left handed I wanted my baby to be left handed also thinking that I would be unusual and funny if all members of our family are left handed. But no matter how I tried to let her be a left handed she will return to be a right handed.lol. When I was young I hated it being a left handed especially when friend, classmate or relative stares at me and would ask if I am not having a hard time doing what I 'm doing or if not someone will tell me that I look so clumsy with my left hand. But now I don't mind if I'm left handed as long as able to used my hands.

hello mac, it is good that when we start young, we use pencil. because if we start with a pen, and you are left handed, it will smear because our letters are read from left to right and written as that. have a nice day. ann

I'm right handed and i wear my wrist watch at my left wrist. But i want to be a left handed because its not very common. My mother was supposed to be left handed but when she was young she was spank every time she hold a pen in her left arm because they say its not good. Now, my mom writes using her right hand but other than that she uses her left arm like when she does house chores, she uses her left arm to stir, or when she sweeps.

Why most people from the past think that left handed is not good? Does superstitious belief has something to do with it? Is there something wrong if a child is left handed? What's the story behind that? Don't they know or appreciate that they're are lots of left handed with great talents? I never thought there are parents would be mad if their children are left handed.

I'm right handed, but both my siblings are left handed. As for your other question, I wear my wristwatch on my left hand because that's what I was taught. However, growing up with left handed siblings made me do things they way they did sometimes. I used to put my belt on and iron my clothes the other way.

No, I write with my right. I've tried to learn writing with my left hand numerous times, to no avail. I can manage writing backwards though. XD

Hi tigeraunt, my cousin is a left hander, but neither my aunt nor my uncle is a left hander, and any of our family members is not left -handed, but his left hand writing is not that good, but i heard that left handers brains work sharp, the thing is that we right handers use left side of the brain, and they use both the sides of the brain effectively.

I am right-handed and I write with my right hand. However, I wear my wristwatch on my left wrist because I don't want to ruin the leather of my watch against the surface I'm writing on, if I wear it on my right wrist.

hi rose, i guess it is habit. and also commonsense. since right handed people use more of their right hand, their arms are usually working same hence it is better for jewelries and watches to be placed on the left. thank you for your response. ann

I'm right-handed - and I believe majority of the world is. I wear my watch on my left hand because it would be uncomfortable to write down with something on your wrist, right? Very basic. LOL I have had a few thoughts of becoming ambidextrous - somebody capable or trained to be capable of writing using the right or the left hand. I'm sure one US president had that skill and I hope I could train myself to be like that. Just so I could wear my wrist watch on either side - depending on my mood. LOL

I don't get the whole left handed thing but that is because I am right handed. My Father is left handed but no one else in the family is. Although I am right handed, when I cut meat with a knife, I always cut it with my left hand. I guess I got that from my Father. I see lots of right handed people cut their meat with their right hands, then put the knife down and use the fork with their right hands. To much work for me. I cut with my left and eat with my right.

hello inertia, very few can be called ambidextrous because they could use both hands in writing and doing work. you didnt say if you can write with your left hand. then with that, you could be called ambidextrous. i am right handed, i have the knife on my right and the fork on my left. i cut the meat with my right and use the fork on my left. have a nice day. ann

hello kal, i find it difficult to wear a bangle on my right wrist. it always gets on the way every time i write hence i prefer placing it on my left. i have this beautiful glass bangle which is my favorite and i always wear it. it used to have a pair but when it arrived through the mails, one was already defected hence i am not using. i wanted to try placing several bangles on both hands though. well, it needs getting use to it. have a nice day and thank you for your response. ann

Hi tigeraunt I'm right handed (for writing and drawing) mostly and wear my watch on the left wrist which I use less. My son is ambidextrous, but seems to use his left a little more for writing. He wears his watch on the left side anyways.

hi tigeraunt I once before a bad fall was ambidextrous and could use my left arm for anything but writing now five years ago I fractured my left shoulder badly and had to have a shoulder joint replacement. Now I did not get back but about ten percent usage of my left arm. I can type but cannot bruseh or comb my hair , unfasten my bra or any of dozens of things I used to use my left arm for.so I wear my watch on my left hand as I am totally right handed now.

hello hatley, too bad you had that accident. very few can use both the left and the right for writing. but be that as it may, you still have this wonderful right hand to do it. i appreciate your response. have a nice day. ann

Hi tigeraunt! That is so funny, but true! They used to say that left-handed people didn't have good handwriting. Well, I have found that they write way better than this righty! And I also wear my watch on my left hand! It's also interesting that there are somethings that I do with my left hand, like opening a jar. I never understood that because I am a definite righty!

hi opal, it is probably a practice what we could not forget since we were young. or maybe the brain of a lefty when thought to be a righty never functions. i do see lots of left handed who can draw very very well. have a nice day. ann

Everyone in my family is right-handed except one brother who's a leftie. I don't wear a watch, but I guess it'd be on my left arm if I did. Strangely, I eat left-handed but do everything else like a rightie! About the only thing I can do ambidextrously is carrying stuff - I worked in a pub for a while and can handle piles of plates or glasses just as well with either hand (or both)!

my firstborn is left handed. but neither of us his parents is left handed. therefore i am right handed. and i wear my wrist watch on my left. it makes me uncomfortable to wear it on the right because i use the right hand when writing and doing other tasks. i use my right hand to move the mouse of my computer too. i guess I believe that -- the hand that you use for writing is not where you would want to wear your wrist watch.

hello tigeraunt I'm right handed and wear my watch on the left as well. My youngest son is left handed and he wears his watch on the right. It several years back that I noticed this about him. If you are right handed it is easier and more comfortable to wear it on the left hand, and vise versa for left handers. My son doesn't have that pretty hand writing but most men don't. Good discussion and have a great day.

I am left-handed even though my whole family is right-handed. I don't really wear watches either but as a left-handed person, I don't do everything with my left hand. For example, when I use scissors to cut something, I use my right hand. Another example is when I use my mouse. I think it's pretty cool and unique to be different then most people. :)
