We had a couple of surprisingly cool days and the roomie and I got out to work on the shed that her nephew got us in.
After throwing away about a half a large bin of trash, ruined stuff, donating 6 loads to Goodwill, preparing 2 large trashbags of yarn/stuff to take to her mom and getting at least one load of rediscovered winter clothes washed and repacked (now in air sealed gallon bags) and another several loads of stuff washed and packed. Today it was too hot to get outside and work. So, I worked inside on the packing/sealing of the clothes. I have a LOT more to do, but this lot is now in a cleaned out bin from the shed.
We have only done about half, actually a little less than half of the shed, but at least it can be accessed!
Today I have to wash a different load of clothes and I want to pack the bags for her mom to take out on Sunday (it is Mother's Day here in the States after all.)
Later I would like to get another bunch of the clothes that need to be washed and packed done, but at least I have a pretty good idea where they are.
Tomorrow we are going to get up early and work before it gets hot!
Once we get this shed cleaned out and prepared, we can start on the shed next to it, this way we will have a place to put that stuff when we get it sorted.
So, I've got to run, I will try to check on what you guys have to say, but I'm going to be really busy in the next few weeks, and I'm leaving for Kansas on the 14th!
So, do you find you have to sort stuff and have no place to put it?
You would NOT believe all the STUFF I have!

And you wouldn't believe the stuff I have. And I need to start going through it all, desperately....
Seriously, my first house, at least once a year we'd go through things and yard sale and goodwill what we didn't want. Second house, we donated old children's clothing to younger cousins, but other than that, didn't do a darn thing until we moved. We moved so many things up here that should have been gotten rid of. Third house, 5 years later, same boat, larger house. Yikes....
Whatcha gonna be doing in Kansas?

She is gonna visit ME!!!! Not exactly, but we are trying to meet for an afternoon, she will be a ways away, but close enough to meet. I never move, so I have tons of stuff. My brother bought a house with about six sheds on the property. Need repaired but will be a great place to sort stuff. I feel like the guy pushing the rock up the hill in hades. Is that Prometheus?

YES!!! I'm going to met a MYLOTTER!!!
Need to go out and haul in a tub and toss in wash. By the time it gets hot tomorrow, I want to have some laundry ready to pack away!
And I have 5 sheds in the back yard, tho one is for the OTHER roommate and is all her stuff, so it really is only 4... yeah ONLY...
But we are going to go to bed early and then hit the shed work early. We got some wet stuff yesterday and we both were rather suffering today from the dust/mildew!

Today was probably our second hot day of the season. I am working on container gardens. I can easily imagine how much stuff you have. I am a 'collector' not quite a hoarder. I have had six or seven different people live with me or store stuff with me in the last fifteen years. I love to sew, or at least I used to. Hubby and son who lives with me both have quite a few things. Son worked on his shed this week. Hubby and I worked on my shed last week, and it is great to have some space. I think I seriously lack in organizational skills. I am applauding you vigorously for all the progress you are making. It will be heavenly.

I have been here since 84. It was apartments when I moved in. I do not think I have a picture. I have four sheds, six vehicles and two trailers in back. But only three cats.

well, we only have my car and the other roommate's, and they both drive - but we really are working on trying to get at least one shed mostly cleaned out so I can turn it into a work space, of course, I'd also like to have my front room too and its piles at the moment...

All I know is I want some of your energy! Can you bottle it up and ship some over here to Ohio? You are the most energetic person I know. The last time I was on myLot (couple weeks ago) weren't you cleaning something else out?, lol! And you got a whole bunch of stuff done in one day. I'm telling you, I really want that energy pill!
I just got done vacumming and here I am on myLot already, haha. I'm such a bum and I have so much to do yet. And by the way, yes, I have tons of stuff that I just don't know what to do with. One of the reasons is I don't have a car right now so I can't even take them somewhere. Some of the stuff I leave down in the laundry room on the table for people here in the apartment to scavenge through and they usually take it. It's all good stuff, nothing junky, so it helps.
Have fun in Kansas and enjoy!

Energy?... more like desperation! We went out and worked for over 3 hours straight this morning and then, despite the roomie saying "its still cool" the fact was it was getting to warm up AND I was wearing out! We had thrown another big bag of trash away, prepared more stuff to go to Goodwill and sorted out a number of things for other people.
We ran by Sonic on the way to Goodwill, got lunch and them came home and ate it after the drop off. Then I went back to bed for about 3 more hours!
The roomie hauls the heavy stuff, but mostly she sits, I was doing most of the toting of bins over to where they can sit until the next shed has been emptied!

I think you did awesome! Sometimes mental and physical stuff drags you down so much quicker! Mmmm, Sonic, yummy. I've been staying away from fast foods lately because my BP is way, way up. It was over 200 in December so of course, the doctor and nurses almost had heart failure, and to tell you the truth, I thought for sure I was going to have a heart attack. So far since then, it seems to be coming down ok and the last I took it (my daughter has a BP machine), it was 129 over 76 so I was very pleased. I've been trying hard but still get out of breath.
Your roomie hauls the heavy stuff, but mostly sits? Is she the one that's blind or is that a really stupid question. No matter what, it's all hard work and I still want your energy!..

that sounds like the roomie's ex-roommate's where her mom wouldn't let them get rid of ANYTHING that had been her dad's! the roomie finally took about 5 sheets of his stationary, and 5 envelopes and had the rest of the reams and reams taken to a daycare to be drawn on by the kids!

Oh I believe you! I've seen some houses with so much stuff in them that it's a wonder it didn't burn down because there wasn't room to breath much less live in. My aunt rented this house rent free for the first 6 months if she'd clean it out. My brothers and I had a good ole time with them when they lived there because there was a pond that we'd go swimming in. lol It took every bit of the 6 months for my aunt to clean the house and get rid of everything but she did it and boy did the place look awesome once it was finished! You're going to feel really good when you're finished. That's a huge job to undertake but you'll feel so much better when it's all done. You really will!

I have moved 3 times in the last 6 years because of a divorce and by the time I settled here I'd thrown out or given away most of my "junk". I'm very, very careful not to accumulate anything I don't really need or want. I had the advantage of starting fresh after getting rid of tons of stuff.
I sympathize with your sorting and keep/get rid of chores! Why do you have so many clothes? Maybe I'm a little extreme but I keep just a few changes of clothing for each season and that's it. I just got so fed up with having a houseful of stuff I never used! Good luck with the sheds!

Yes, I frequently find that I have stuff that I seem to have no room to store. So far, I've found somewhere (under a bed or in the top or bottom of a closet)to stuff it. Anything that I have doubts that I'll use goes to our local charity thrift store.

I relate I really do …I’ve moved many times and each move has produced more and more stuff. We’ve been in this house for almost ten years which is the longest I have lived anywhere since I left my parents ‘home so I hate to think how much more stuff we have now considering there is an extra member of the family now too! I have a lot of cupboards and drawers that need cleaning out and I foresee a huge job ahead of me so I decided to make a roster and do one room at a time because I don’t want to exhaust myself attempting to finish it all in one day.

It has actually been crazy cool here for a couple of days too. I am expecting it to be warm today and miserably hot mext week. That darn humidity is a killer and we are expected to be in the 90's. What is the world are you going to be doing in Kansas? There's more to do here inb TN

Our weather has been the opposite of yours. We have only had a few warm days! I have been trying to get rid of stuff. I am always suprised at how much stuff I have that I don't need. I think I am a little bit of a hoarder. I hate to throw things away! My house is so small though, I have to. If I had more space I would just save more things. Have fun in Kansas!
