Lately, I find myself easily irritated and can't focus on the things I want to happen. Sometimes my husband would ask me, "why are you so grumpy?"......Would someone share with me how to stay focused and avoid feeling so negative? Or maybe how to shift from a bad mood into a good mood? Thanks, your thoughts will be greatly appreciated!

I think that we all get like that every now and again and i will say that some days are easier than others to shift that feeling.I think of all the people that are having a worse life style than me, as well as all the people that are in worse health, that way i feel thankful.Try thinking postive, rather than negative.

We are the other way around.
I would always tell my husband that he is becoming a grumpy old man because he is always picky. He gets irritated easily. Whenever he is like that, i would tell him, "there you go again, grumpy old man" and he would tease it back to me. He would then be mindful of himself not to be that.
He hates to admit it, but he is becoming one !

Sometimes it takes more effort and caring on our parrts to focus on the good things in life. It is just easier for us to accept the bad things that come our way. I don't know that we can avoid the bad things. Learning to accept the good and the bad together is just a fact of life.

Hi whengcat,
So true sweetie, although we know we are blessed with life it only takes one simple negative thought and poof our good and positive feelings get instantly wiped out.
I will not hypocritically say try hard because I know we do, but instead say to ourselves at the moment of negativity that this too shall pass. Count our blessing and always hope for the best and continue to remember that tomorrow is another day.
The mind is very powerful, so we have to continue to train it by saying to ourselves that there is more to life then the bad moments.

Staying focus on things that we engaged in is not an easy job. It is a character trait that we have to cultivate and with time we get use to the basic step. One can find help in reading good books such as motivational books. I love reading Brian Tracy books. He is a good writer and I have learnt a lot about his experience.

I always think more positively after I have exercised for at least 30 minutes. It always works for me no matter how grumpy I am to begin with. It improves my focus a lot too! Hope this helps :)
