What is greatness?

It is said, "Always aim high". So, what then is a high aim? When we ask young children about their aim, then the common answer is to be engineer, doctor, CEO of a company, judge, film actor, politician etc., Some , however, may have the aim to be a Minister, Prime Miister or even President. But is there an aim higher than this or greater than this?
Yes, there is. It is said that God is great. It is said so because God really does a great task. When we say that we are children of God, then I should aim to be like God. I should aim to be great and do a great task and be next to God. So the highest aim is to be next to God.
So, then what is greatness? Greatness means to be extraordinary. Greatness means to be outstanding, to be unique. Greatness has foundation in excellence in a given field. Greatness is not a matter of luck. It is matter of choice. Any person can become great if he chooses to be so. Even an ordinary person can be transformed into a great person.
However, it is not sufficient to just make a choice to be great. One needs to make a constant and tireless effort for achieving the high aim.

Greatness is something that is really in the eye of the beholder. You ask five different people and they will have five different varying definitions of greatness. In general, greatness is aspiring to a height that you are not at, but is somewhat attainable. Or maybe it is not as attainable as one would thing. Still it is a level to aspire to and perhaps some day, you will be able to reach the highest heights of life and really get to a higher magnitude.
Therefore, you really got to think that greatness is doing the best you can with what you have. To me, greatness is achieving a comfortable life. The most moderate amount of work for a higher reward can consider to be greatness by many people, myself included. Therefore, greatness is something that comes in many forms. Greatness is in fact truthfully in the eyes of the beholder. There is really no two ways about it.

Being great depends on the interpretation of the person itself. Even an ordinary man who does not have anything still can consider himself as great if he feels great.The richest man in the world if not contented can also feel that he has not been great.According to Abraham Maslow, all human being have the capacity to interpret what he has accomplished.However with the humanistic hierarchy of needs that Maslow developed,after all basic human needs are met, safety, security and love and belongingness are aquired, the greatness of self or self esteem rises. But above all, as human as we are, Maslow said that humans are not contented of the greatness they have and still strive for more.....to have self actualization....so greatness always depends on the contentment of the person

This is nice topic, I hope my comment will be one of the great answer. Being great I think your right by choice and determination. By the way is there any side of greatness which can consider negative but they call it great, like being robinhood, he is great to those people who knows him but his action are wrong. my aim is not to be an actor, a CEO, a doctor, or a president... what i want most is to be a famous person in the field of arts and crafts, and in writing. i want to give my family the life they want, or let's say a very much better life. i want to have tons of foundations helping those who needed, helping the poor and the homeless. but other than that, i want to fully be familiar of God's path for me, and i want to walk that path and live my life with all Gods blessings. :)

I feel aiming high means they things which is difficult for us to do for a politician aiming to be a Prime Minister is not big but aiming to study and become a doctor is high aim.And moreover why does all think that God is great because he helps the good so if you help others you will also be like god to others.So I feel whatever you do do it with full concentration and try to help others if you have excess of money and try things which is difficult to do.You would definitely enjoy.

The ability to eat all and enjoying 5 pieces of popeye's bonafide fried chicken, with mash potato, and 1 biscuits, then having Wendy's 3/4 pound mushroom and cheese burger, then having another carls junior famous star burger and finishing with the burger king's Thripple whopper.....now thats what greatness meants to me.. :)
