I have A friend with extremely bad insomnia and she passes out alot :/ try to think of things completely irrelevant to you before you try and get to sleep such as things going on in other peoples lives like poverty in africa. (But try not to empathize!) and if you are lead in bed struggling to get to sleep get up and carry on doing things as you would in the day , that helps preventing it over time altogether :) good luck xx

according to my knowledge and experience, you should keep your thinkings outside your house for the night an hour before sleeping and listen some soft tunes.that helped me a lot.

I have also been having a hard time getting to sleep the last few weeks, i have so much to worry about and on my mind, so stressful... its very hard for me to relax and unwind after my son has fallen asleep. I think i can get excited easily also which doesn't help.
I like to drink a cup of tea and have a nice warm shower with lots of beautiful bodywash and clean my teeth and get all clean and into a fresh bed with shaved legs lol and go to sleep!

I would listen to some mellow music. That may help to relax you enough to where you may be able to fall asleep. I use sleeping pills myself sometimes when I am unable to go to sleep.

There is always the TV for me!
I would be watching some re-run of 'House', or those infomercials on cable. I would just stare at the screen without really thinking of what's happening on TV. I'd put the sleep function on, and normally I just pass out before the TV turns off.
Micro-thinking about everything usually what prevents me from sleeping. Try to avoid that.
