I have recently been recieving alot of friend request on mylot, which I usually welcome because I love having friends on mylot. But I have been recieving these request from members that are inactive it seems. I check out their profile, and it shows that they have never posted a discussion, and have never responded to a discussion. So it makes me wonder why they are adding friends if they are not going to be active members in mylot. I even give the benefit of the doubt that maybe they are new members, but many of them have been on for two months or more.It makes me curious to see that they have a lot of friends, but don't participate in any discussions. So I simply have been denying these request, because it makes me question the persons intentions or why they are on mylot at all.
Has anyone else been recieving these request? Do you add the person and see if they post later, or simply deny them?

Hello Dear tlb! In fact few months back I too have started a similar discussion! Yes here on this site we receive a lot of friends request! Some requests are from the people who just enrol themselves as the members and without actually participating in any discussions and responding to any discussion they simply start sending the friends request to gather a lot of friends on this site. Basically such members are gathering lot of members to promote their sites or ti have referrals in another site! Though such people were there in the past too, but the number of such members seems to be increased!
I have received many such requests , but I am very strict in selecting friends. Normally I go the profile section of the member who has sent me the request to see the activity of the member, and if I find myself satisfied with the performance then only I include him/her in my friends list! Initially I too was very generous to add people under my friends list ! To day I think I won't be having even 40% of my friends actively performing o this site! Now a days the moment I see that I get a request from a member with zero score, I simply reject the request! I keep pending the request of the members with small score that is less than 100 for some time to see if they are genuinely active on the site or they are spammers!
Some members can be spammers, some can be hackers and some can be simply doing this just for sake of fun! But what so ever may be the reason behind such act, this act is not appreciable as it will just increase the strength of the site and the percentage of quality members will go down thus making this beautiful site into an ordinary one! Thanks for the discussion, I loved participating in it!

Hi. tlb0822. I get these type of friend requests very often. I also get members that have not responded to any discussions, and that has no friends at all. It is like they saw me and want to be my friend first, but yet they don't have any kind of activity at all on myLot. It is really strange to me. Yesterday, I added someone like this because I wanted to see if they are going to start sending me links to become their referrals. Well, when they do, I will delete them from off of my friends list. But usually, I check out all friend request profiles. I want to make sure that they are doing what they are supposed to be, and not trying to spam anyone at all.

I dont understand why they would do that as it is no benefit to them i wouldnt know if this has happened to me as i dont check peoples profiles before adding them as a friend.I add every body that sends me a friend request to be friendly then i look for discussions started by my friends in order to take part if i can.

I understand this perfectly. I received a PM from a man asking to join a program.......he is a mylotter and had only a few discussions but I sent him back a note, "don't do this again".
I haven't deleted him from my friends list, but will now that you have reminded me.
I think we all need to remember that even bad people get into mylot.
I don't send out my ref. links for my sites, why should I be bothered with requests for work I have never heard of?
There are scammers and hackers everywhere.
Thanks for remind ing me...
huggs, quita

Hi there,
Many have responded with what I too would have said and probably best to do what I have been doing lately and that is to leave them pending to see if their activity picks up or not.
Some will actually begin to interact, while others simply leave and this will give you an idea as to whether you should accept and or not.
I find it odd at times that many add us without every interacting and can't figure out why if we do not have anything of interests and we accept them then we do not respond to their discussions they will then feel we are ignoring them.
So give it a bit of time in pending and see how that goes.
Good luck and see you around the Lot!

I haven't had this problem. I've been on here for a month and I can only respond on here two weeks out of the month. I have responded the 2 weeks.. maybe longer? I don't remember. I have 2 friends. Yep, 2. The friend that signed me up, and one more. So you are doing much better than me. lol

Hi tlb!
Yep, I have also been receiving friend requests and when I check out their profiles, they are not active here. I have been away from myLot for a long, long time and when I came back, I got 5 friend requests. I checked out their profiles and some have not logged here for a few months and I can tell that they're new because of the few number of posts. I don't deny their requests. I check their profiles once in a while and when I see that they have logged in, that's the moment I accept their friend requests. But only if they have the same interests of if their discussions (started or responded) interests me. ^^
Cheers.

Hi tlb! Unfortuantely, most of these request are for the purpose of referrals
to whatever sites they are promoting. Some are just "friend collectors" and
I just don't understand their purposes since they aren't responding or starting
any discussions. I have decided to either just let them "hang" for while and
watch their profiles or just refuse them. I have accepted a few and then found
out that I was right in the first place that all they wanted was a referral
for some site that they are promoting. I don't want to deal with people like
that. I am only interested with those that want to really particpate and be
friends here and learn what this site is about. Happy Mother's Day to you tlb!

Opal26 is right, tlb! I have been receiving friend requests from members who are inactive, with 0 post or with some posts but was inactive for so long ago. I immediately deny their request when I received one because I have these experience that that after accepting their friend request, they will send you a message about their earning sites and will ask me to check out those sites and join under him.

Yeah I have been getting them and I do love having friends on mylot, but I only accept friend requests if they are active on here than I will add them. If not than I don't add them because it's for refferal purposes and I really don't want to join any more sites right now I have plenty to handle right now so I will stick with those for the time being.

Hi there, the same thing's happening to me as well. I got friend request from Paul. I went to his profile to check if he is new and found that he joined the site few months ago and he has more than 100s of friends. I thought he requested friendship just for referral or something, so i ignored. I got another request the following day. I ignored it again...A week later, he sent me request again! Well then, i accepted it and till now he has no post or anything!
I have received few more similar requests. I wait for few days before i decide to add or ignore such request in order to make sure that they are active before i add them up! There is no point in making friends who are not active at all!
