Well thanks to the folks at Cambridge Credit Consolidation Services, and my tenacity I have officially paid off all my credit cards. It took me close to seven years total, because I was stupid and applied for new ones when the first ones got paid off four years ago, but they are gone. Done! Now the only debt I have is what most creditors consider good debt, my student loan, and one bad debt I have to still get rid of which is a stupid cash advance. But it made me feel great to know that after all was said and done I did it. Without filing bankruptcy, which makes me feel even better considering a lot of people go this route when they actually could pay it down themselves by using services like the one I have mentioned.
So now that I have done it and proved to myself it was possible I set up my savings account last week. I'm still broke and living paycheck to paycheck, but I now am on my way to diversifying my money.
So how close are you guys to paying off your debt? Or have you just started repaying debt?

Congratulations!
We are basically done. We just have the student loan left, and we don't pay a lot of attention to it because it's on automatic withdrawal. We are going to be very frugal (almost cheap!) this year so as to be able to buy a car and save a down payment on a house.
We didn't use a service because we were scared of scams. It sounds like it worked really well for you though.

oh, sorry, just realized I already commented. sigh. We are going with superfrugal right now though. I am constantly turning off lights and hanging clothing to dry.

Wow! Good job. I know how hard it is because we just finished paying off our credit cards last year: we just have student loans left, so we're in the same place as you are. It's so much nicer to be able to put a bit of money into savings, isn't it? I am trying to keep focused though, and pay down the student loans.

Congrats to you too. And you are right. Like I said before I am just as broke now as I was before, but now my money is going into an account as an investment in myself and my future and not in repayment for past mistakes. Wish it was that clear back then it would have been easier to tear up those apps in the mail lol
So Yippie for both of us!!!!

We've consolidated our credit cards for the most part we are working on paying them down and or off. But I'd like to get rid of my huge one, I just can't afford it and it said it would take 30 yrs to pay it off.
