Years ago, possession of cellphone had been a sign of status symbol. You are considered an A class citizen if you are sighted bringing a portable phone. Nowadays, it is an integral tool of communication to all class members of the society. What phone feature is integral to you? What are the selling points of a cellphone for you?

Because of my work reasons, I've changed my phone few times. Personally, I only need one to make & receive calls. Text messaging is good, too. I recently changed my phone from blackberry to simple flip phone. That's pretty all I look for in a cell phone anymore.

I often heard that flip phones are not that durable. It is said so because the wirings are pretty sensitive and thus constant flipping of the unit will make it prone to wear easily. Are you aware of this or was I just misinformed?

It's just a general statement. I don't find it to be true in every case. I've had many flip phones & I've only had the flip part broke twice & once was my fault. It can be said for just about every phone out there. I've once heard sliding phones are bad because sliding mechanism fails all the time. My mother had one for few years & never had a problem with it. Open faced phones, candy bar phones, tend to be bad because people tend to push or sit on the phone & those type of phone's buttons tend to break a lot. You can say bad things just about every style of phones. I wouldn't say you're mis-informed but with little care, it can be avoided...

I guess in order to prolong the functionality of anything, proper care should be administered. Personally, at the past I don't lose my things due to wear and tear but they just get lost.. I mean, literally lost. Either I left it somewhere or someone takes it from me. I could be really careless at times when it comes to my belongings. It had cost me a lot but I try to be vigilant and careful about my things now.
Thanks for your response.

currently and due to the nature of technology advancement, the selling points for me in a cellphone are the processing power, the operating system, the memory and the sturdiness of the build. recently i bought a Sony Ericsson W8. The reviews are pretty bad but since then, i quit reading reviews and depend on what i know and how i feel about a product. i gave my HTC Wildfire to my brother which was replaced by my Sony Ericsson W8. The SE W8 costs half as that of the HTC Wildfire but the former performs a lot better. That's when i proved the reviewers wrong.

I agree, reviews could be misleading at times. I too own a sony ericsson handset and since then, I have felt like it is the best brand in cellphone due to it's functionality. i have bought a lot of handsets from other brands like nokia and samsung in the past but they did not even come close to sony for me.
Well, i know that all reviews are subjective and thus should not be considered conclusive when considering a product. Anyway, thanks for your response. have a good day!

I think that to me, being able to use the internet, download apps and games to the phone, along with talking, of course are the selling points I think too. I do think though that looks can sometimes be a selling point as well. I don't always take into consideration, as I am more into how the phone works, as that is more important anyway. If the phone doesn't do what I expect it to, or it is supposed to do, then I don't even consider the phone. mine is a mytouch 4G by t-mobile, and I really like the phone, as it is the best one I have had thus far. I do enjoy it a lot. Take care, and have a very good day.

Like me, I opt for functionality rather than style. I would want my phone to be equipped with applications suited for my lifestyle. Like you, I have a phone who had a wifi capability. I can pretty much do anything with my phone because of it thus I'm so loving it now.
