It sickens me beyond all belief. I'm sure in their minds, as twisted as they may be, they might have some reasoning, as sickening as that may be. Still when you peal back all of the layers, there is really nothing to me that can completely make the killing of a children by any parent, both mothers and fathers, completely justified to say the very least. It really does terrify me to think that anyone could do something like then. The harsh reality is that this is the ultimate step with most people who might be mentally deranged for whatever reasons. Perhaps this is a far deeper problem then maybe are willing to look at. Not everyone is cut out to have children, as much as we wish it to be the case. A child is a huge step in life and there are people who feel like children have ruined their lives for whatever reasons, so they lash out in this ultimate violent manner. Not right at all, but that's what it all boils down to. Just sickens you to your stomach.

Only insane or mentally unstable mothers would do that to their child. I don't think that any mother could hurt thier child. She would starve herself and give the last grain of rice to her child, or take a bullet meant for her child. It's always a sad thing to hear news like that. :(

Really? How awful it is to do such thing! But I think the woman do have a problem in the mind, or let's say a mental disorder, or just crazy. She should be sent to a mental hospital for a secured custody. This is really so sad and pitiful..

Reasons for doing such an act could vary from one person to another. Some, opted to do such a heinous crime due to poverty. Others, due to mental stress and fatigue. However, no matter what the reasons and causes maybe, killing your own babe is not an option and should not be an option. To begin with, nobody has the right to take someone else's life (Thou shall not kill - 6th Commandment). A mother who would do such an act is most probably not on her right mind and sanity. Thus, this mother needs help, either in a form of therapy or counselling. Most likely, I would suggest counselling and therapy combined. As the topic suggests, "mothers who murder their children" can be likened to and equalled to abortion. The fetus has already life inside the womb, and mothers who forcibly extract the babe inside is already committing murder or is murdering already the child. I hope people would realise this as a phenomenon that the society is facing. All of us have a big role to play in this society in transforming this world whose morality is deteriorating due to the secularism and hedonism mentality of people all over the world.

I agree 100% Its horrifying to see this on the news so regularly on the news and in the media. I hate to see it and it always hurts my heart! I feel so sorry for all the childrens cases i have seen and i think the only possible explination in mental disorder as Stowky said in a previous post. These are not the actions of a normal person, there is nothing going on your head thats normal if you can justify to yourself committing such a crime, for whatever reason you feel you need to . I wish these people went to get some help or atleast only harm themselves and not their innoncent children.

Sometimes, it can be difficult to understand why some women kill their own children. Especially as many of us imagine that parents love their children. However, I have taken criminology classes, and have learned that there are a lot of reasons that would lead women to kill their children. For example, depression and mental health are two reasons that would lead them to commit this act. These are just two examples, but they are two of many.

THis is one reason I believe in abortion. I think some women shouldn't have children. There needs to be a way to diagnose post natal depression before the mother leaves the hospital. I think there are alot of women out there that should not have children. They are selfish, uncaring, cold, psychopathic, deranged, and it just takes the hormones getting a good stir to bring it all to the surface.

It is certainly something that I can never understand. I have heard a lot of excuses..depression, mental issues. I just don't know. I can't imagine it.

There are many reasons why a mother kills her child. Actually, whatever the reasons expressed, can not be justified to kill her child. A child should be protected, cherished and cared for properly.

Simply because there some mental problem with her. No sane mother can ever do that. Depression caused insanity when she's too weak to fight for it.

I think women that kill their children are not in a good mental state. They are sick mentally. I think this problem is common in the western countries such as UK, USA and most parts of europe. In africa, killing of children by mothers is a taboo and is very rare

Depression and poverty which drives people insane are the causes of inexplicable misdeeds by the persons you mentioned. No mother in her right frame of mind would ever do such things.

I think there are various reasons. It is not so simplistic as to say they are insane. It could be that the woman is sociopath whoo only thinks of her own pleasure and attractiveness to a man. So when she has a boyfriend who wants her to get rid of her kids, instead of leaving him, she kills the children. Then there is the woman who hates men and so kills all her boys or a woman who only has girls and kills them to have a boy. Those are sexist reasons to kill children. I do think that when a mother is crazy and kills her children, that there are warning signs, but someone who kills a baby either before or after birth because their boyfriend or husband says so is not a woman who you would want around children.

Hi. imgrandma12. You know, I always wonder why some mothers can murder a child that they have given birth to.. It just does not make any sense at all. I really think that a mom is very stressed out. She is also depressed about something that is going on in her life. It is true, that my kids drive me up the freaking wall so much, but I can never imagine myself murdering them just because I am stressed out to the very max! I just could not harm or kill my precious child that God has given to me. I could not live with myself. I believe that a mother has a mental disability or disorder that propels her to react in a cruel and hateful way too. I also believe that Satan himself, drives a woman to utter despair and he blinds her into committing an hideous crime that she thinks is justifiable when it is not.

Some moms I believe end up with a mental breakdown of some kind. Especially the one who drown her five kids in the tub. Susan Smith because even though she was married she I believe had a boyfriend and he didn't want kids. So she drowned them. Got rid of them without a care in the world. As for Casey Anthony I believe she was jealous of the love her daughter had for her grandmother. I also believe she felt tied down and just wanted to have fun. I believe she is a very sick person with deep rooted problem which probably stem from her relationship with her parents, especially her mom. However, I still believe she deserves to spend the rest of her life behind bars.
