I just love bread, since it's delicious and affordable, I always eat it everyday.. BUt now in the news they are going to raise the price again next month since the ingredients of bread is also rising.. A few months ago, bread was just 1 peso, now the minimum is 5 pesos.. Soon, bread may become 8 or 10 pesos, which is not affordable anymore.

how about trying to make your own bread. Flat breads like Tortilla and roti have only 3 ingridients, Flour, water and a bit of oil. They can be cooked in a skillet, they were easy to do. Youtube have recipes for them. You just need a rolling pin and a skillet. You can even use them as pizza dough.. Flat breads should be learned around the world. they were soft, easy to do and can use any spread in your imagination. Mexican flour tortilla http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LEz0puaKNTk Indian Roti: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jD4o_Lmy6bU If Filipinos only knew how to make flatbreads, We4 wont suffer from this bread crisis. they were so easy to do, no need for oven and can be done at home. for 20 pesos you can buy a kilogram of flour at the market,

Thank you for your advice, and the links too. I don't really know how to cook at all, but my mom does, I will surely tell her about this and ask if she can make me a flat bread.

Yes, I can see that too... The price is definitely high but the bread is still small for me and I won't get full easily with just eating one bread. I do hope they make the bread bigger.

Yes, I do wish they make the bread bigger too- to match the price. But I doubt that would happen though, since everything(price) is going up, and it just doesn't come down at all...

We have started making our own bread, which cuts the cost down a bit.

Its just the same everywhere…globally food prices are rising and a lot of people are no longer being able to afford the basic necessities or are compromising on the quality of food they’re buying. For us, rice is the staple…we just cant do without rice. So what we are doing is buying the cheaper quality… the ones that we wouldn’t even look at a few years back. And now, these coming weeks the price of petroleum is about to rise again and with it, all food commodities will once again become dearer.

Yeah, now necessities aren't even affordable anymore to the poor people.. Rice is the staple food here too, although we buy cheaper rice now we still care about the quality.. and the taste, we don't buy the cheapest ones..

Here it is still in normal price. I think it is normal too for them to increase the price because they too need to cover the cost budget but the abnormal is people salary is still at the same price unlike the products.

Yes, the government can 't just increase the salary since it will be hard for the smaller companies to cope up with it and they may even fire some people. If the salary goes up, the price of bread will surely go up too.

The conclusion is the salary increase or not they will still increase the price of the products.

Ha? In our place, the former 1 peso pandesal is already 2 pesos but not 5 as you said. I think, it is just right that they increase their price since the ingredients' prices have gone up too. Though, i just wish their would be an increase in salaries too.

They did increase the e-cola, but then the prices of goods increased too- so it's still the same.. Yeah, I saw some 2 peso bread but they were too small now and I won't be it won't satisfy my hunger.

Really, but they are so expensive.. I could only eat one or two, 5 peso breads since they are big enough for my stomach.

hello lady, Last Friday night me and my kids had a night hang out, having a joyride wasting gasoline and enjoying the traffic free road late nights and we stopped by at Pan de Manila to buy pandesal and it costs 5.80. I also love bread esp hot pandesal, but the price is really increasing every now and then. Let's have our own bakery hehehe

Yes, i love pandesal too with milk or coffee. I never thought they still put centavos in bread though. Maybe that pandesal is quite big for it to be almost 6 pesos..

For me you suffer the cost you take it because if you can't eat you are weak since it is your favorite so not leave it.

Yeah, which is why I'll just deal with it since I need bread.. I do hope the price of oil goes down so other prices won't go high anymore. Thank you for your response..

Yes, unfortunately as the raw materials are increasing, so the price of bread will increase as well. And, I wonder why everybody seems to be okay with it. I noticed that since the new president came in, everything from fuel to whatever is steadily increasing, and not a qualm from the people. Sure, there is a promised increase in wages, but, I don't think it's enough. So, it's time for us all to tighten our belts.

Well, President Noynoy can't really do much about it, everything's got to increase in price becasue the oil is increasing too. I hope we can have an alternative fr gasoline though, it's just too expensive..

I love bread like you do since the food is so convenient. It can help me fill my stomach without waiting for rice to be cleaned, to cook and wait another set of minutes to ensure that it's okay to eat. and please don't make me say anything about vayant. Since I'm a bread fan, I'm alarmed by the various high prices of bread. I can still buy them and enjoy them but not as frequently as I would like. I often discontinue my desire to buy more since it would put a serious dent in my budget. I guess we really can't do anything about it. If you want to have it and eat it, you have to pay for it. We can't blame the producers of bread since they have their own families to feed. If the ingredients' prices soar high, what can do about it except put the weight ion the consumer? In our part as consumers, we understand and we accept the consequences. If we still want, we buy it. If we have second thoughts, we go away and find some other alternative. Perhaps as long as we fill our stomachs is not the problem. The problem would likely be if we ever have some spare change left.

Yes, I love bread too becasue some of them don't need other stuff to put in order fr them to taste good. Unlike rice, you still need to have a viand.. I still buy a lot of bread though, since I think the price I am paying is worth it.

It is natural that prices are rising, but a 500% raise is not natural at all! And such a price increase in just a few months... I simply dont get it. Did the government stop to subsidize farmers? Or why did the price go up so fast?

Maybe it has something to do with the oil price hike- it just goes up every single month, which makes the price of otehr goods high too. The price of bread did go up slowly, from 1 peso to 2 , then it's 5 pesos now

Heard of it too. Life nowadays is really getting harder and harder with the price of almost anything going up, from petoleum products down to the smallest product and services. wheew! and the proposed salary increase of only 13 pesos 35 cents is way too far the expected amount for an ordinary Filipino worker to survive on his/ her daily expenses. I only hope the Govt. should further magnify its lenses for them to see and understand the situation of the people.

They do understand the situation of the poor, but the government also thinks about the companies that may have a hard time when they raise the salary- those companies may be forced to fire some workers too.. Te wage hike doesn't really do anything for my family since we don't any job now.
