A newborn's nails seem to grow fast and if left untrimmed, he may scratch his adorable little face and we don't want that to happen. Being a new mom, I worry about how to cut my baby's nails. I appreciate if moms like me would share their experiences to help me figure out the easiest way to trim the nails of my 2 month old baby.

Hi angelo315, the best way for you to trim your baby's nails is to use a specially designed nail trimmer for babies, although I myself used the regular one to do it, I learned quickly. I know many ladies here in India who simply nick out the nails by using their teeth. I was horrified at first but I was amazed that they did it so quickly and so well that they looked as good as being trimmed by a trimmer. The best time to do it after you put your baby to sleep after his bath, that's when the nails are more softer and easy to trim.

Hello kalyani1234. Thanks for your advice. As of this date, I am still afraid to cut the nails of my baby. I do ask my sister-in-law to do the thing for me. I am just so lucky to have a supportive and kind sister-in-law. Thanks, sis. But with your suggestion, maybe next week, I will try to do it on my own. Wish me good luck, kalyani1234. :)

Thanks angelo315 for selecting my response as the best response! I am really happy for you that you have got such a supportive sister-in-law. Its a very rare thing to have relatives who are supportive, so enjoy her support while you can. All the best for you, you will do well. After all each woman has a natural mother inside her, its like throwing yourself in water and then finding that you can indeed float around well without sinking. Motherhood is also very similar, you really do not know the things that you can actually do until the moment you try them for yourself. All the best to you :)

I agree with you. The moment I gave birth to my healthy baby angelo, it seems that I am not a first time mom. Of course, I do not know everything about motherhood. But I am amazed of the things I can do, eventhough no one taught me how to do it. I was able to change the diaper of angelo. I was able to carry him (after two weeks of giving birth)and to change his clothes. You are right, maybe each woman has a natural mother inside her. :)

using nail cutter that designed for cutting baby's nail will help you,
be careful when you cut off the nails don't cut too deep because cutting too deep may hurt your baby
the best time for cutting nails is sleeping time and milk feeding time because that time baby do not move the hands(some baby's move hand during feeding milk be aware of that)
