I'm a chinese people.I think chinese food is very healthy, and noodle is nourishing stomach. But the premise is you eat authentic chinese food. The restaurant's food is oily and unheathly. So your mom will think chinese off is unhealthy. In our general family,we just add a little oil ,salt, and a little chicken essence.Occasionally some dishes need to put some sugar to make the flavor better. So the calaries is low and the nutrient is high. But in the restaurant, they will put many oil, sugar, sauce in dishes.Because they just pursue the tatse, they won't concern customers' health. But if you really like eat chinese food in the restaurant.I suggest you can choose food which have light soup.Just eat food, don't eat the soup.I don't know whether you like fried rice,it's not healty, because there is much oil to cook it.Sometimes the calories maybe higher than pizza.

The only think I do not like about Chinese restaurant food is that they put MSG on everything, I am allergic to it.

It's not so much that "Chinese Food" is unhealthy...it's how it's made. The Chinese food you get in America is filled with preservatives and oils and butter and unneccessary things. Plus, the Chinese don't eat nearly as much of it, I'm sure. America has such huge food portions these days.

When we went to the Chinese restaurants and we ordered for the amount of people we had, we got too much, so had to take some home. So they sort of estimate that we Westerners have all big appetites. Also when I was with one of my friends at our local Chinese place, there was a buffet and what they offered was not as healthy as what one could order. It also depends on where you are. If you live on the West Coast such as in Vancouver, that has a large Chinese population, you are liable to get the best and the healthiest, but the farther you go east, the worse the food becomes unless you are lucky to be able to pick up the Chinese vegetables and meat and cook it yourself.

I will tell you like that: the materials of chinese food may be unhealthy, even poisonous because of some bad merchants. However, the idea and the combination are very healthy.

Firstly there is the fact that chinese fast food that we get from take away shops in the west are often cooked differently to how they are cooked traditionally. This is generally to make the cooking process faster or to adapt it to what western people like to eat. This means using addatives and extra seasonings that home cooked chinese food might lack.
Also bare in mind that chinese food does contain a good mix of vegetables, meat/fish and carbohydrates like noodles/rice. This gives their meals balance and a decent nutritional value.
Furthermore, there is also the fact that teas such as green or white tea are common beverages in eastern countries such as China and Japan. These teas contain compounds that boost metabolism allowing the body to burn of calories and fat consumed faster, compounds that limit the bodies intake of bad cholesterol whilst regulating the levels of good cholesterol and also helps to protect the body from heart disease and cancer. There is a whole range of other benefits you can get from drinking these teas that can explain why chinese people are not affected by an unhealthy diet.

Chinese food is very healthy but it needs to be as the Chinese themselves eat it. Unfortunately, the food found in restaurants isn't up to standard. It is prepared and cooked too fast in the interests of making money. You would probably be offended if I said that Indian food is disgusting, but if you were to visit many of the so-called Indian restaurants in the west, I'm sure you would agree. Indian food is delicious when it is cooked correctly by genuine Indians. You really need to eat at home more and avoid the restaurants.

I think it is that they have a lot of vegetables, and they also have noodles and rice. I do have some chinese food recipes that are really Chinese and not the kind you get in restaurants unless you are lucky to go to a restaurant where the Chinese go to. They are often hard to find. If you get the food that is served at the normal Chinese restaurent, it is not that good, white rice, white noodles, sweet and sour, deep fried, etc. it is not that good. What you have to do is to either get a cookbook on real Chinese cooking, and go where you can get the real Chinese ingredients and of course, find a restaurant where most of the Chinese in your city or town go to.

Hi,i think those unhealthy chinese foods are mostly processed ones. I admit some chinese companies do some bad things to make the biggest profit. But if you cook by yourself, and avoid to add those bad things to the food, actually they are healthy ones.
So i try my best to cook for my family. For instance, if you eat outside, first thing you are not sure about is the the quality of the oil. Some of them maybe used several times, especially when you eat some fried foods. And to make foods more delicious, they may add some things which will make the foods more tasty but do harm to our health.

shireenrjn,
I think you can always assure your parents that the Chinese food is really safe especially when they are properly prepared and cooked.
I am sure being a regular for Chinese food, I am sure you are not just eating plain Chinese food but cooking methods dating back more than 500 years.
FYI, Chinese take their food very seriously which is why we do not have severe food poisoning epidemic like Salmonella. We do not take things for granted when food are going way too cheap or smells even slightly out or feels out of the norm. Just recently, there were some unscrupulous chicken farmers who fed their livestock with some commercial plasters to gain weight and was reported immediately by retailers upon finding them.
Likewise, just be wary of the things you eat ever paying attention to the smells and tastes.

OK.let me tell your the truth. As a matter of fact,Chinese food is nutritious.their life is still long.Perhaps it is just a habit that you have not ate the plenty of Chinese food. That makes you can not accept it.just take me for example,i was not familiar to a city when someone talk about it,I must be unlike it very much.Due to the news that say some Chinese food evidence. It affects someone who don't know it very much before very much.Because the one just remember its disadvantages. Also it still has its advantages. But the news today prefer to show the former.
In my eyes,Chinese food is good.I have ate it for 22 years and I am very healthy. Many exports say that eating Chinese food is a enjoyment.you can be delight by its delicious. Not only it is cheap, but it is heated that kills many virus.when heated ensure that it is health for us to eat.so I think you need not crisis for eating Chines food
