I have a digital camera and I like to take a lot of pictures during travel, most of the time, I will just take whatever that I think is new to me and that I think to keep that as a memory. I seldom take the picture of friends and family members that go along with me. And yesterday, one of my friend ask me, why all the photos that you took most of them are only sceneries, where are the peoples? I just answer him with a smile.
What is your view on this, what will you take with your camera, will you take a lot of sceneries or new things rather than the peoples that you meet everyday or vice versa?

I like to take pictures of nice sceneries and I do take such pictures. But my favorite subject when it comes to taking pictures is "dogs". As this is my hobby, I like to immortalize nice images of any dog. Of course, my dog is the most... handy, so many pictures I take have Binne as a subject.
Because I love nature I try to have both dogs and beautiful landscapes immortalized at the same time.
It is not easy to take pictures of dogs, because they don't stay still like humans do. You can't say to a dog "say cheese!" and expect him to smile at the camera. From hundreds of pictures I can hardly pick 30-40% that are good to share.

Hi!
I think taking photos of any animal will not be easy, first you must have a good patience to wait for a good moment to take the photos, 2nd, you have to be preserver to keep doing the same thing in order to get a good photos of the animal. and 3rd, you have to have a good camera where you can snap it fast enough to get the action of the animal you want. So, I really salute those people who can take a good photos of animals.

Oh, for really good photos of animals I think you need to be an expert!
I only take amateur photos, I never thought about doing this otherwise than a hobby.
The conditions you listed are, indeed, indispensable but I'd add another condition: you need to have the "feeling" to capture THAT moment. Because if you're late for only a second, you can say goodbye to the photo you dreamed about.
Here is an example of loosing "the moment":

For me I am not a professional photographer nor I care about how the photo will look good. So I will only care to capture precious moments withe my family and friends. Although taking picture of the scenery is also good but me and my loved ones included

Hi! Sorry for late reply.
I think what to take with your camera is more on your own preference, some people like to take scenery and some people will like to take the picture of their family member, for me, I will take more on the picture of scenery if the place is really nice.

When we travel long distances, I too like taking photos of sceneries than family members. While going to my grandparents in the province/country, I took pictures of the large fields with farmers and animals. I also took the picture of a mountain and some trees that looked real strange (the leaves were like hanging and "furry" in nature ). One time, I saw a huge herd of cows and it was great to see so I took a photo. These are wonderful things I won't be seeing in the city so I want to take those memories with me.

Yeah, it is really fun to take the photos that are rarely seen, and most of the time, the natural sceneries are always beautiful. When I taking the photos all the things that other do not take, my friends and family member always question me on that. But, I just like to took those beautiful sceneries rather than taking family member's photos unless on certain family occasion like birthday or some celebration.

Most of the while we take the photographs for our family's members or for ourselves as memories.
Only once a while, I shall take the photographs of scenery if there is something special for me.
If I missed taking a scenery photograph, I still can get it from the postcards.
If I missed taking a photograph for myself or my family members, then forever I shall miss it.
Photograph is a very good medium to record and freeze our past for memories.

Some people will think that to take some special moment with family member in the photos is more important. For me, it depend on what kind of situation or occasion it is. If I travel with family member, I will take at least one photos of family member at the location and other I will take as much as possible of the sceneries that I can see. At least when I want to recall back the place I have visited, I just need to look at all the photos, and I can see again the sceneries of a certain location from all kind of view from the photos I had taken. That is why I like to take more photos on the sceneries.
No doubt postcard can show you the scenery but it does not show you the complete places that you would like to see and recall when compared to self taken photos.

The less people on the picture the more I like it, the only exception are family and friends but I don't have a lot of pictures of them though.
Most of my pictures a sceneries juist like yours because landscapes, buildings... are so much beautifuller than most of the people walking around.
My dad always says to make pictures of people to show some atmosphere.

Hi Yspmyl
some of my friends just like you---take pictures for sceneries and new things, but no people. But in my opinion,we can 70% sceneries pictures and 30% pictures for people.Did you ever view pictures with friends or family members years ago? If so,I think you will also have sepcial memory. As far as I know, many parents take so many pictures for their kids, and it should be valueable memory.
