An ugly tree.

My husband decided he wanted to plant an apple tree in the backyard, but it isn't exactly in the backyard....it halfway back the lot. I feel apple trees are the ugliest tree....I do not want it in the yard. There are plenty of other prettier, meaning better shaped, trees out there to buy.
This tree has tried to survive in our Canadian winters and I am secretly hoping it will die. It is the worst shaped, haggled up tree. last fall,m my youngest son backed our it while moving a car. So now it looks worse.
I am posting a picture of the butt ugly tree and I would like to have your honest feelings on it. We produce about 4 aples/fall and they are yellow transparent....so you need to leave then on the tree long enough, but in a week or 2, they are all soft and too mushy to eat. UGH!
I am fed up with this tree. It is constant friction between my husband and I.

I'm thinking so what! Who knows, when it matures it may have lovely fruit that will sustain you through a rough time! lol! Don't give up on it yet. And you know what - if I had a good man (I'm assuming you do!! lol)... who cares about an ugly tree - let him have his fun...it could be a lot worse! lol!

Obviously your husband loved the tree. Personally, I do not see anything wrong with having it but you seem to feel strongly intent on cutting it.
I suggest that it best be left alone. I live in an urban area and having some tree is a rare sight. And seriously, I feel bad for the tree. Good thing trees don't have feelings..

Not much of a tree, is it?
Trim off the lower branches and it will look a lot better.
Personally, I love apple trees. And peach trees, and pear trees, and any tree that will feed me.

I mentioned doing exactly that...it would look better and not scratch the lawn mower everytime we get around it.....but no way.

Yes, it is ugly. No leaf, only branches. But I would not cut it, to me it is as if a symbol that we need to survive despite all the troubles and ugliness of this world. I would tend to the tree more and try to talk it to better shape itself and be fruitful.... Well, I guess I am a little crazy anyway...

It is spring here...so that is why there are no leaves....they are just starting to bud.

I love to have an apple tree in my backyard. I think this one needs more fertilizer.

I know what you mean. We had an apple tree when I was growing up and it was an ugly tree also. We never got good apples off of it either. The bugs either got to them first or they rotted.

I would love to be able have an apple tree one day. My children love apples and I buy many in a month. But that tree does not seem to be too big. Maybe when it goes some you will grow to love it? Why not try planting a tree that you would like to see flourish? Maybe this way you will be distracted from your husband's apple tree!

It's just a bit ugly because it has no leaves on it. Maybe when the leaves start to show up, and you could cut off some of the lower branches, it would look better.
And I'm sure that when it gets bigger (if it gets bigger, which means you've resolved the issue with your husband), then it will grow on you.
Or maybe when you're already munching on the apples.

Lately the weather in my locality is quite extreme with windy and wet condition making the casuarina trees infected termite roots to fell down one by one, each them to fall down, have to paid the woodcutter with electric chain saw to saw them into pieces and dump it outside house for the municiapal people to collect which requrie a lot of heavy lifting.Planting tree is hassle if mainteance is not properly done. However those trees are more than 30 years old.

Awwh the tree looks so helpless and bare. Maybe when it blossoms it may look better. Since he very much enjoys this tree, the only thing it perhaps trim off the branches and maybe that way it will grow upward and not outward.
I hope that tree progresses where the both of you can enjoy the apples from it. Perhaps ask him to trim it a bit and maybe it might allow you to like it a bit more.
