Regular exercise does help a lot and also spending time outdoors amidst nature . I have seen the positive change in my own relative who was a chronic asthmatic. He started doing regular yoga besides going for walks and taking an interest in outdoor activities like playing golf and swimming . Now he seems perfectly normal. He used be perpetually suffering before ,with wheezing and chest congestion, which has all but disappeared now. So, physical activity and spending time outdoor keeps our system like a well oiled machinery by keeping most of the health problems away !

Well, I read or heard somewhere that people lives longer when they moves a lot. I guess that's the easy explanation why older generation lived longer because they constantly had to do things in their homes and works that they were so healthy and lived longer.

I agree with that. In my house I hand wash the clothes and also do most of my housework and I feel really good about it. But during the good old days people worked in the fields , grew their own vegetables and did all the work . Added to that there was no electricity and any of the modern gadgets, so they had a healthy lifestyle living close to nature ...

Hi Kiran!
I agree with you that physical activity is imperative and if we do not go for a walk or do not go for daily light exercise, we will be in trouble. Our life style has become sedentary and we have become accustomed to comforts of AC etc. and do not feel like moving without a vehicle, however, we forget that not going for physical activity could prove costly for us. I try to do daily exercise and walking because mine is desk job, which does not allow much moment to me.

Yes you are absolutely right ! It happens with many who have a desk job and when they realise the negative effects sometimes it is too late. We had a neighbor working for Accenture , barely 42 years old - he put on so much of weight and never bothered about exercise. Finally he had a heart attack, thankfully he dint die but now he has been detected with a number of other complications in his system ...So it is better to take precautions !

Hi deepak, I completely agree with your views ! Physical activity is imperative and especially so once you start working and get into a routine where physical activity decreases. At that stage one has to make special efforts to remain active . It is good that you go for walks and do some exercise, I guess it is essential for all of us ...thanks a lot deepak and enjoy your evening

I used to go for long walks Kiran because I did feel good and a doctor said that women should walk a lot during and after menopause. Unfortunately I have a severe skin problem on myfeet and my walks virtually have stopped for the past 2 years. Recently, I am using another oil for my feet and have decided to resume walks. Let me hope to be consistent because after 3 days today my feet are itching and are horrible. I fully agree with you that physical exercise keeps the blood flowing and makes us energtic and fresh.

Hi kala, I am so very sorry to hear about your problem. Haven't you consulted a physician about it ?I hope the new oil treatment is helping you and you are able to resume your walking. How is the itching now? did you walk today and how do you feel? I guess once you get used to it, things might become easier. I too used to have knee pain and couldn't sit on the floor, it was after I underwent an operation 6 years ago on my kneecap when I feel and the ligament was torn. Most people discouraged me saying that I will never be the same and will never be able to walk properly and also bend and sit on the floor. But I was determined and now I am able to do all of them. Most of the time people scare us unnecessarily and when initially there is some negative impact, we tend to think others are right. Of course we have to know our limits and do what ever is feasible...thanks a lot kala, hope all fine with you, take care

Kala, I had heard about some treatment for Psoriasis. In fact I asked a relative who was suffering from this complaint, he used to have it all over his hands ,palm etc ;, all the time itching . He took some health food called herbalife which according to him was excellent. He has been completely cured now. But , I guess there are different manifestations of this complaint so ot may require different kind of medication...Monsoon is on its way another month or so , after which you might feel better

For proper blood circulation - our life line - one needs exercise and outdoor activity. Activities like gardening, walks, outdoor sports, swimming could contribute to this to a large extent. And those who cannot they could go for physiotherapy and yoga.

Hi allknowing, thanks a lot for your response Any kind of exercise is good for us. In fact, if we can do the housework which in itself is very good for keeping fit.Sweeping and swabbing the floor , hand washing clothes, gardening are all good for keeping fit ...

Of course physical activity keeps us healthy and fit enough. Our outdoor activitied should be done nature admired area. If we are doing the physical activities in the polluted areas, there is no use at all. our health will be spoiled in the polluted areas.

Hi vasumathi, as of now most metro cities in India come under the category of polluted areas and there is very little choice for the population. The only option is to look for a spot which is relatively free of topic and where there is at least some green cover..Thanks a lot for your response and enjoy your evening

Yes,Regular exercises does benefit a lot, it may be nature walk, jogging, running anything. I have noticed it helps me de stress too. I enjoy long walks but at times I don't get time as my kids are small and O often get tired after the house work. But whenever I can , I take out time and go for walks. I love walking to a near by park which has a duck pond and watch the ducks dive, its the best therapy there is.

true, physical activity will make us healthy but its a case to case basis so better consult your doctor first. People who are suffering from other pulmonary diseases are not even allowed to do any household chores. So, we should also know how much physical activity can we do.
I love to walk, run, jump but not the exercise people say. I mean I can walk as far as I can. I run slowly but longer. I can jump rope for quiet a number. But now I can't do all the same because I have an asthma. Sometimes, when I exert a lot of physical activities which I used to do, I can't breath and had to stoop forward and catch some air.
That was troubling me so I consulted my physician. I was advised to rest and slow down. Walking 30 minutes a day but not one time is good. I walk around when its cool. The weather should be cool and not too windy so I won't catch any allergens or else, I'll just do it at home. hehehe. Life is good so I take care of myself. You should too!

Hi leateagee, I suppose that is true! Each individual has to make sure that what exercise one wants to do is suitable for ones age, constitution and general health. But, again I have seen people who have been really ill and were unable to sit or walk around come back to normal in a matter of few months after doing yoga and other forms of breathing exercise - thanks a lot and happy mylotting

Yes kiran I agree regular exercise keeps body fit. Especially for aged persons it is a tonic. As for myself after rising from the bed I feel pain in my hole body. I regularly do some light exercise. After exercising I feel much better. I feel fresh and no pain. So everyone should do some exercise every day to make free from diseases.

Hi bhanu, thanks a lot for your response I agree !Many people have this pain in joints when they wake up in the morning or after resting for a while. But when we walk around for a while it slowly disappears! Exercise is essential for everyone and it has many health benefits - all the best and enjoy your evening

I am one of those people who wake up late in the morning. But yesterday only I got up early morning and went on for walk followed by some exercise. It was such a beautiful experience since the breeze was so much pleasant and there was so much peace and calmness all around. Moreover I didn't feel dizzy throughout the day which I usually felt most of the days. Now I am planning to follow this routine for all coming days too.

Hi swtpareek, I too feel that waking up early and going for a walk or doing some light exercise has a lot of health benefits ! The only problem is that I too find it very difficult to wake up too early and once I am up I get immersed in house work .I wish I could wake up an hour earlier and go for a walk or do yoga !I hope that you are able to follow the routine of waking up early and reap the benefits from it , all the best

I know what you mean. All winter long, my children constantly get sick. Then the warmer weather comes, and they spend a lot of time outside. Because of the time they spend outside, their immune systems strengthen and they rarely get sick. I have also found that I myself feel a lot more energetic during the warmer months, the more time I spend outside, the better I feel.

Yes it does, but I really don't like going outdoors and I have not been doing my exercises. I guess that I am getting lazy, but it is good so that someone can stay in good shape and so that they won't have to visit the doctor and can save a lot of money that way.

Yes, i agree. Physical activities especially those requires us to be under the sun, are good for us. Other than sweating it out, improving blood circulation, we are absorbing vitamin D from the sun as well. That's one reason i don't mind myself getting a little tanned because it adds on the glow for my skin. On top of that, exercising outdoors is a great way of treating cold and flu, though it's not recommended by doctors.

Gentle exercise is good for almost everyone - but if you have a chronic illness like asthma, you do have to be careful and start slowly.
It's true, it doesn't have to be Olympic training. Just a bit of gardening and hanging the washing on the line will help. The fitter you are, the better your body can cope with its other problems.
