Hello all. I started a discussion group type thing in my "likes", specifically for us newbies. (There may already be one and I just haven't been able to find it.)So, I thought if we had an organized forum where we can feel comfortable to ask questions, we might all be able to help each other out. I don't know how well it will work out for us, but I am hoping that at least if we post in this category, we will not get the snide remarks from the older crew - the ones who have been on MyLot for awhile now and are pros by now. I am really hoping under this group we can ask each other questions and learn from one another as we progress. I don't know about you, but I have not gotten the warmest, heart-felt answers from members who have been around for awhile. Don't they understand that we are new, and excited, and curious, and just want to learn? It's almost like we're asking for their deepest darkest secrets or something. But I almost feel like I am being attacked (virtually) because I asked what they consider to be a stupid question or something that I should know from reading the FAQ's. Okay, there is a lot of information in those FAQ's. And I'm sorry if I, like others, have asked the same question too many times. It was not my intention to ruffle any feathers. If they are annoyed by our questions, why not just ignore them? Why take the time to answer if they are only going to be insensitive?
*I MUST say, though, that there are a few individuals who have been VERY helpful thus far, and are great examples of the type of "MyLotter" I hope to be down the road. So to them, THANK YOU for your understanding and for your patience! It is greatly appreciated.
*Additionally, if you do read this post and do not have anything nice to say, PLEASE, PLEASE I beg of you, do not respond. We are all here by choice. I am choosing to be here to learn about myself, learn about others, and hopefully make some money along the way. We do not wish to hear (or read) any negative or insulting comments.
Thanks. I truly hope we can make the most of our discussions and rely upon each other to learn how this all works.

i understand exactly what you mean. the raw enthusiasm we feel when we first try to 'master' the workings of mylot. i am sure you have not ruffled any feathers, (well, not any that did not deserve to be ruffled lol)
one thing i quickly picked up on was who the angels of mylot are and who to ignore. don't worry about negative comments, thats nothing to when you first get a discussion deleted! lol!
it looks like you will be a welcoming member to mylot and maybe in a year you will be one of the angels of mylot lol!

'Interests' here are not like 'groups' or 'sub-forums' that you might find in other forums. You can easily be forgiven for not understanding that. It's a very common misconception which has even led people to post the same thing under different 'Interests'.
In fact, Interests are simply another way of classifying discussions in which people might be concerned with and likely to respond to. Tags are another way and the difference between the two is NOT clear even to many of those who have been here quite a long time.
Most members here are very forbearing (in fact this forum is one of the very few where you will find little flaming and what there is is generally quickly dealt with by Admin).
It really is ESSENTIAL that every member here knows, understands and follows the Guidelines and knows where to find the FAQs. Both of these links were, I believe, mentioned in the email that everyone now receives when they join and there is really no excuse for not knowing about them.
Perhaps when you have been here longer, you will understand the irritation of a few people at 'yet another' question which is already clearly answered in the FAQs and the Guidelines.

I am beginning to understand the frustration and will not be starting any further conversations about the use of MyLot for sure. Thank you as well for being one of the more patient and kind ones to take the time to explain this to me. I guess even after reading the guidelines I still did not understand the difference between "interests and "groups". Thanks for further clarifying. And thanks for your time and patience in respondind. It really is appreciated! :-)

Hi Suzzette!
Have younoticedhowmany users there are on myLot and thenthought howmany were unpleasant on that topic' It was an extremely minute minority because the majority of us arehere to help. The problem is that many new users ask the same questions overand over again and we cannot discuss them because a) they are repeated topics, b) they are answered in the FAQs and c) myLot is not for questions with answers bbut for discussions.
If your questions and doubts are unanswered then your best bet is to add some of those individuals who have been very helpful and ask them questions in a PM. Chance are that they will help you out there because they earn the same in PMs as they do in discussions which get deleted - nothing. But they do gain a friend and a happy Lotter which is worth more than any cents I can assure you
These interests are worthadding and will be of help:

and these are a couple (but there are many more) of discussions that a certain helpful Lotter posted in the past to make things simple for everyone:

Thank you, mysdianait. You are one of the MyLotters that have been very helpful and I truly appreciate it. I understand a little more each day and have made good use of all your suggestions as well. Thanks also for pointing out the number of users on the site vs. the few rude comments. You are absolutely correct. I guess I just took a few comments very personally because I was genuinely hoping to get just a couple suggestions from those with more experience...not looking for shortcuts or anything. I mean, really, why bother to post something negative or rude at all? Just to make someone feel bad? I just do not understand people. As I mentioned in my above response, I will certainly refrain from posting any questions. I just thought it could help. Thanks again for all your valuable information and patience. :-)

Some users have a problem offline and come here to get their kicks and forget about their offline woes and someone is on the receiving end. Sadly it was probably you yesterday
Make note of who does that sort of activity and avoid them in future. There are many others to choose from and it will be easy to stay out of their way
MyLot IS fun and you will soon know where to find it and I can see that you are going to be happy with the results that you get from your activity too. Keep it up!
