My height didn't even reach 5'3", I am quite short.. and a few more inches would be great, I drink milk almost everyday and sleep at 10 pm.. What can I do to grow taller? I am almost at an age where my bones won't grow anymore (21)..

Hi! Most Asians are not tall. If you're a female of 18 yrs above and your height is 5'5 then you're lucky. Too much intake of calcium will not make you grow taller. In fact, a cardiologist told me that it is bad for the heart, because it causes blockage in the arteries. I suggest that have your thyroid gland checked if you want to grow taller. Good luck!

Yeah, 5'5'' is my ideal height too. Yeah, too much of anything is bad... I just drink powdered milk 2 times a day, so maybe that's still okay. welcome to mylot czareanah22.

I don't think there is anything that can be done to make you taller. It has to do with your genes. I am short myself at 5'3". That is why I wear high heels often. But there is a saying that goes "Good things come in small packages"!

That is a nice saying. I wear heels now too, since I can't grow that tall anymore.. I am even more comfortable wearing heels than flat shoes. Thanks for your response.

I have heard that playing the basketball or swimming will make your height grows faster. Last year my son attended to the swimming class during the summer vacation. It is obvious for me to see his height growth. Good luck! I love China

Hi, I am not the tallest guy among my friends but I am 6 feet tall, so I think that is sufficient. As for your second question, you certainly can grow more, even at this age, but not just by sleeping or drinking milk. Some people have it in their genes, but some do not. Such people have to work hard to get a good height. You will have to do regular stretching exercises. That will certainly make you taller, and healthier too. In India, an ancient Indian art called Yoga (pronounced as Yog, like "mole") is pretty famous, that I practice regularly to be fit. You may have heard about it. It gives you a near-perfect mixture of good health, height, weight etc. If you are interested, you can try it out. But, you will have to practice regularly, and the effects will show up over longer duration compared to modern exercises. It will probably take around 2-4 months to see some considerable change. If you want, you can have a look at yoga-asanas (the physical exercise part of yoga) at http://atmabodh.net/asana. That is not a complete list (there are 84 in total) but the most important ones are there. The important asanas that will help in increasing height are: - Ugra-asana (http://atmabodh.net/ugra_asana) - dhanura-asana (http://atmabodh.net/dhanura_asana) - Chakra-asana (http://atmabodh.net/chakra_asana) These are also the top asanas for complete body toning. So you will feel stronger and more flexible after doing them; you can feel this effect within few days. Also, do Shava-asana (http://atmabodh.net/shava_asana) in the end to ease up your body from tiredness that other asanas cause. However, these are among the most difficult asanas, so do not push your body too much at a time, otherwise you may hurt yourself. Just let your body learn over time in a relaxed mood, you will get them by practice. Also, do not forget to read the important points (http://atmabodh.net/asana_some_tips) about asanas before you try them out. There are some rules (http://atmabodh.net/rules_for_asan) also but they are too restrictive, and you need not follow them all. If you decide not to try Yoga, you can try simple modern stretching exercises (like http://growingtallerguide.com/index.php/53/grow-taller-exercises-to-increase-your-height/). Some of them are a mixture of yoga and modern exercises, they can also help. Whatever you decide to do, do not let milk out of your daily diet. If you decide to adopt any of the two work-out options, include banana along with milk in your diet. It will provide you slow but constant source of energy while practicing. Also, whatever I suggest here comes from my personal experiences and seeing other people. I don't know how strong you are and how well your body adapts to them. But, I believe yoga comes naturally to body if done with ease and has no side effects. I hope that helps.

Yes, flapiz, I totally agree. This is the first principle of yoga. It is an art of relaxing your body not pushing yourselves. So, yoga should be done only to a stage the body of a person permits. If one cannot do an asana, one must not try with excessive force. Also, one should not try to do a yoga posture for the duration that is generally mentioned in guides, just do it only enough that your body and your daily schedule can support, not more than that. However, it does not mean one has to give up. One just needs to go forth in stages, doing a bit more every time you practice. The body will adapt over time, i.e. it will become more flexible over time. However, there are certain asanas (like vrishchika-asana) that one can not do in stages and should better try out under expert supervision, as they are very difficult. There are many asanas, that are very difficult, but not overly profitable. So, in modern busy life, one does not need to waste time over them. I have been practicing yoga for over 5 years now (well, not exaggerating, along with some heavy workout, that makes me one of the fittest boys in my college ). But, I could not dedicate time for too many yoga-asanas due to my study pressure. So, I looked deeper and found that only a few yoga postures are sufficient for complete fitness and flexibility. They are sarvanga-asana, chakra-asana, ugra-asana, dhanura-asana, and shava-asana (performed in the order mentioned). Along with them, two breathing exercises i.e. Kapal-bhati (http://atmabodh.net/kapal_bhati_pranayam) and bhramari (http://atmabodh.net/bharamari_pranayam) complete the needs of one's body. This takes around 15-20 minutes compared to my earlier schedule of around 45 minutes. Moreover, for boys who want a perfect body shape, some 15 minutes of heavy workout along with the 15 minutes of yoga everyday is sufficient. By the way, ustra-asana is not very profitable, chakra-asana gives all of its benefits plus many more.

I think yoga is helpful. Isn't it kinda hard though like the ustrasana? or camel pose. Seems rather impossible if a person doesn't have a flexible body.

Well, it is not just calcium and sleep that causes a person to grow. It is primarily genetics. Some are tall some are short. Drinking milk doesn't mean that calcium goes to your bones. If you don't put pressure on your bones the milk that you drank will be very likely end up in the toilet.

What do you mean? How do you put pressure on your bones? Well, my father is quite tall, but my mother is short, she is 5 feet. I also did the calculation of height based on parent's height and 5' 2" was the result.

No, I am quite tall compared to other people here in our country, maybe because both of my parents all tall too - that's why my brothers and I are tall- it' in the genes. maybe you should try sleeping earlier..

You are lucky. Yes, it may be in the genes, my mother is a bit shorter than me... I'll try to sleep earlier, see if it helps me grow a bit. Thank you for your response.

hi Lady. I hope you don't worry too much of yourself. Keeping a good health is much more important than having a tall body. I am very sure you looks good with your height right now.

Hi Lady, how i wish i was taller than i am now. My hubby is 6'1 and i am 5'5...If i don't wear heels then i look short in front of him. I get really frustrated at times and wish i was at least 5'10 but unfortunately it won't happen now. so, i have stopped thinking about my height, i rather think about the types of shoes that i could buy to make myself look taller.

Maybe you can just wear high heeled shoes... because for your age, i think there's no more chance that you will still grow taller. My husband's cousin already tried a lot of supplements just to grow taller, even those that she saw on home tv shopping channels, she tried those, but nothing worked.

You can try your best , especially by working out and doing some specific exercises for height not just by having a good diet and you should also consult a good physician .

well i can share the same sympathy. i am short and 21, anyhow. sometimes i wish i was a little taller to fit into some great outfits. other times i am glad to be short cause men are attracted to short women that are slim and sexy. you need to be proud to be short that is how GOD made you. he knows why. i have learnt that being short has its advantages and disadvantages same way as being tall. so dont think that tall people sometime pray they were short
