I have known several women who were abused by their husbands. One good friend had a boyfriend she planned to marry that I knew was abusing her. I tried to talk to her but she wouldn't listen. I refused to go to her wedding and didn't talk to her until she left him. Then there was a gal just recently who asked my daughter if she would call the police if her husband came back. He did and she came down here. I woke up to find two policemen in the house questioning both the girls about the guy. They tracked him down and put him in jail. We do what we can.

Because they are self involved and psychopathic! They care about only themselves. no one is more important than they are!

Domestic Violence is really a big issue. In this case reporting it to the police or having the wife in he women's protection shelter would be the best answer. Still some women may not want to go to the authorities, situations like these are very sad. So when this happens it is much better to report it to the police.

imgrandma12,
Most of the time, these victims are reluctant to open up and very much in denial mode especially about their abuse.
Just be patient with them and firm when you see them having visible injuries which requires medical attention. If you are unable to reach them, then try contacting their closest friend or relative to help out.
You can always encourage them to take the next positive step of walking out on their own, seeking out counseling and police protection.

I would suggest that she really talks to her husband and tried to get help from families and friends how to solve their problem. I know I can suggest her to report it to the Police department, but this kind of practice is not familiar in my country - Indonesia - yet.

I suggest that the wife should be taken to a woman shelter. After which, a complaint should be filed against the husband. Nowadays, it is unjust to keep a closed eye over matters like that because you don't want to interfere. If given the opportunity, you should help the wife take matters to the right authorities.
