I'm a college going student. My average sleeping hours in a day is about 10-12 hours. And even after that if i go to bed i can take naps also. It affect my studies as well as my other work. I usually have headache too when i do work for a long time continuously. My average sitting in-front of computer is about 3-5 hours/day. I consulted about my headache & found that i may be initial stage of migraine. Now a day i dont get migraine type pain but a headache usually is always there. I'm a occasional drinker & dont smoke. Please help me if u know anything about my problem.

I think those are the kinds of problems that only doctors can help. It is dangerous to follow advises online if you donĀ“t have a checkup. Doctors not only will ask you about your sleep habits, but about a lot of other things too. Take care and welcome to mylot!

I do not have any professional advice, especially regarding the headaches. I do, however, know very well that your body will adjust to less hours of sleep eventually if you start waking up an hour earlier. Like you could set your alarm to get up one hour earlier for like a week. And then the following week do one more hour earlier. I wouldn't suggest cutting your sleep much more than that, though. I don't think less than 6-8 hours is very healthy. I also found this site that couldbe helpful to you:

Hopefully that will help you.

I have migraine too. There are migraine exercises available to avoid migraine pain, cous really, it could get worse.
Set an alarm clock to wake up in morning and avoid pressing that snooze button too often. Make a great schedule, which includes yoga, pilates or any other exercises.
Take healthy breaks between your work time like get up for a bath and get back to work and be sincere to yourself, i mean don't uh procrastinate.

since sleeping that long daily may indicate other problems, i would suggest a visit to a doctor for a good physical exam and chat about your problem. depression comes to mind. don't underestimate the effects of the pressures of studying. the headaches may well be tied to your daily time at the computer. mention that to the doctor as well.
good luck.

When I was in middle school,I am sleeping 10-12 hours, but it was not continous, when I listened to the teacher,I may sleep, and slept very soon ,and whenever I were slept very soon, this pheonmenon was held for some months, then I became normal. I thought I was too cumbersome before?you can do some physical training I think ,and seek help from doctor may be a better choice.

usually 7-8 hours is considered to sufficient. If want to cut down the cut short the time of your sleep then I suggest you keep the alarm also at the same time you should have the will-power to get up even if sleep tempts you to continue.
Also, if are not able to work for long hours continuously them you can take breaks of 5-10 minutes for every 1 hour or so.... this way you might feel a little better.

About migraine, I would suggest - always make sure to consult the best doctor as soon as possible and stay away from polluted environments. Also, make sure that your monitor is not specifically known for annoying radiations or anything (try to avoid continuous long sessions in front of computer [take brakes often]).
About the sleeping issue: First thing to do is to reduce the amount of starch containing (carbohydrates) food items from your daily diet. Carbohydrates are pretty difficult to digest, inducing drowsiness. Another thing that can be done is to eat less (Quantity) before you go to bed. I recommend that have your dinner as early as possible (at least 2-3 hours before you go to bed). Also, reduce the quantity (of food) if you does have a habit of eating too much (in general).
You will definitely feel better after making/trying these alterations to your life style and diet.
Other things that can help include are: bathing twice a day. Maintain a specific time table about when you go to bed and when to wake up (try to maintain the time frame of 6 to 8 hours of sleep everyday - anything less or more than this range may make you feel drowsy for the whole day). Also, go to your bed only for your sleep and not like every now and then when you feel tired or bored.
Hope all these helps, good luck!
