Ooh, I'm scared!

So it's Friday the 13th. Not only that, but they say several planets are in perfect alignment today. I know this bit of stuff could upset or excite some people. Add all the speculations on the "end of the world". Do these things really bother you? Or do they annoy you? Or perhaps excite you? Or, are you even aware of these things? What would it take to scare you? Will you be extra careful today because it's supposed to be an unlucky day?

Wow! And I thought end of the world will be on the 21st because the planets will be aligned by then, as I have heard on the news. It's going to happen earlier? Geez Glorya, I didn't know it's Friday the 13th today until I saw your discussion. We have been more anticipating our salaries to come by today, (actually we were expecting it yesterday) and we weren't disappointed. It's payday! I bet there will be no one eating in the pantry today except my group. We usually notice that occurrence every Friday after payday. So I guess, It's a lucky Friday since we have our payday. On second thought, I may not just be lucky. I realize money would just pass my hand to pay for bills.

I think there's another explanation for the May 21 thing. But, if I remember the news last night, the planetary alignment is today. Lucky Friday the 13th for you, huh? So, would lunch be on you today?

Nah! But it was a first for me to buy food in our pantry and my office mates were kidding me if I was sick. I might just be, when I learned about the prices. It cost me Php 100 for a meal and a banana cake that was just to tempting to resist.

I guess for a company pantry the price is expensive. We could have a decent meal at our canteen here at half that price. Sure hope it was worth the hundred bucks.

For all the years that i have been living on earth, there was never a time that a certain date would scare me. No one knows what will happen on any day, except God . I leave it to God to whatever will happen, because i know He will never forsake us.

That is right. We leave everything to God because He is the only one who knows everything. There are days that have scared me, but, not in that way. Like the time that my dad had undergone a medical procedure to determine whether he had cancer or something else. It was something else that was curable. So, I guess I learned my lesson that day that it is God who is in control of our lives, not us.

Oh is it? I didn't even realize it until now. I really not bothered with Friday the 13th. I just treat it like any other ordinary day. But few minutes ago, I received a text from an unregistered number in my phonebook which worried me for a while. She's telling me that she's ending the contract of the apartment I'm currently leasing because of the frequent fights between me and my "hubby". Btw, I'm single and living alone. Anyway, after clarifying, it turned out she's referring to someone with the same name as mine so perhaps she got confused with the number she texted. :) Whew! But I really thought for a while I got a hubby that I'm not aware of LOL!

Hilarious now but a few hours ago, my mind was racing. Where am I gonna sleep if that text was true and it was effective immediately. What am I gonna do with the 2 nieces who are currently with me for a vacation? Also, how in the world do I cancel the checks I already issued? So advanced but I coudn't help but think of those things while I was trying to clarify things with the texter. But my greatest question was who in the world is my hubby?!!! Where is he hiding?! LOL!

Hah! It's not a Friday the 13th for you but April Fools! Come on, you've been hiding the fact that you have a husband?! Hilarious, really!

I feel unlucky everyday so tomorrow for me will any ordinary day. At least I do. I do try not to worry about dates as such and truly count my blessing each day I wake up breathing. Hopefully I will not come back tomorrow and say something out of the ordinary happened. Although outside of grocery shopping I really have nothing outdoors planned. But really I am grateful that any other times it has been Friday the 13th, I do not think anything unusual has happened for me. Good luck to you and sending many blessings your way.

Awww, sorry to hear that you feel unlucky everyday. I wish that the tides would change for you so you'd feel lucky eveyday instead. But, yes, we're lucky enough today to wake up breathing. And, yes, it is much better to count blessings rather than misfortunes. I've always wondered at how we people could scare ourselves into anything. I haven't had much scary experiences, but, I've always had been scaring my self over nothing at all.

I don't give a s**t on dates like these. :) Life is what we make it. It doesn't depend on dates and the stars. I heard a lot of people though being extra careful and being so aware of the dates and everything but I don't give a d**n.. I live my life with GOD. I am always secured in Him. So I ain't scared at all. So what if it's Friday the 13th... :)

Right. It's funny how the "stars" have a thing to do with our "fates" and stuff. Well, it's pretty exciting for the scientist this aligning of the planets because these are rare instances. But, they say that if ever there is an effect on the aligning planets (because each has its own gravity force), the effect would be minimal. Well, I guess you're young enough to have not watched the Friday the 13th in the 80's. Pretty scary, but, it's all fiction.

Oh, you're really young! I wasn't even referring to the movie series but to the TV series! I think the movie series started in the 90's. And they're not connected to the TV series shown in the 80's. Yeah, I was really young then, but there was this Friday the 13th TV series. Good thing is that I don't remember what was shown there. I don't remember if it was shown while Twilight Zone was showing or before or after.

I am not a superstitious kind of person so being that, it goes without saying that it does not bother me at all that today is friday the 13th. There are so many horror stories circulating all over the world that Friday the 13th connotes something negative. I say it is just a story or belief designed to scare people off.

I am not superstitious, too, and sometimes I find it funny how we people tend to scare ourselves over nothing. Well, I've had my fair share of Friday the 13ths, but I have not yet met an unlucky Friday the 13th day. Just so I could say, oooh, I got unlucky because it's Friday the 13th. But it never happens!

Hi. glorycam. As this day was approaching, I started to dread this day coming into light. But today, I forgot all about it. I really have, and that has amazed me! It does bother me when someone constantly brings up the absurd thought that the world will end. Because, I don't believe that it will end. I may believe in ghosts and spirits, but I don't believe that this world will end this year at all.
@gloryacam (5540)

Well, we can never really tell when the end of the world is, but we just have to be ready as if it would happened today. It's good that the thought of Friday the 13th escaped you. At least it didn't bother you at all.

To me I used to hate Friday the 13th but now I see it as just another day and in the past I have always had a good day on Friday the 13th so really I am not even thinking about it, but I did wake up realizing that today is Friday the 13th what will happen today?

I, too, treat it as just another day. Actually, I'm kind of disappointed because every time it's a Friday the 13th I see if unlucky things really happen. But, nothing. So my conclusion is that it's not really true.

Hi! Just want to share something. My hubby was telling me about his ex-boss when I interrupted him that it's Friday the 13th and he responded, "so?" Then, I asked him back, "don't you know what Friday the 13th means??" But he continued with his story and it surprised me coz' did he know nothing about it... ?? Curious. Well, I guess back then when I was so much younger there weren't many movies like Friday the 13th that's why I was somehow influenced and growing up being superstitious about it. So, each time there was something bad happened during Friday the 13th, like it was already expected and at the same time quite unusual coz' it happened on Friday the 13th, but if it happened during other days, it would be just another bad day. However, that was way back during my childhood and teen years. Sometimes I can still be half-superstitious about it and think that the percentage of unlucky occurrence today is higher than normal days. Funny thing is I always forget to be extra careful during Friday the 13th. Anyway, the universe and planets really fascinate me.

Right. The movies were and the tv series inspired by the superstition, but made the superstition more popular. I'm guessing that the younger ones are not aware of the movies and tv series. Me, too, I'm fascinated by the universe and the planets. I love gazing at the stars at night.

I didn't know that yesterday was 13th black Friday until lunch time when my friend tell me. I feel very bad after know that, but I tried to do not think about this day like bad at all. Every black Friday happens something bad with me, but this day wasn't like other black Fridays. Nothing bad happened at all and I was suprised.

Friday the 13th is just another friday. Nothing more. As far as the end of the world, well, who knows. We cannot go on day by day worrying about that stuff. We have to live our lives. Being happy on the other hand is a totally different story. Am I happy that I am alive? Yes. Am I happy overall? No. But that's life I guess. I am not scared of any of these superstitions. As a matter of fact, I love horror movies and all that intense mystery mind boggling things.

Friday the 13th doesn't bother me but the 21st everyone is talking about does. I don't want the world to be over. I do believe in God and I know it is all in his hands but I would be lying if I said I wasn't worried about what people are saying. Most of the time I don't even notice it is Friday the 13th. There are so many things that scare me that I stopped watching the news. I figured if it was worth me knowing someone will tell me about it.

I'm not really superstitious, so I wouldn't blame it on her being born on a Friday the 13th. All the "end of the world" scare is pretty much scary, but, I guess everything has to end. It's just a matter of acceptance and being ready for it.

I feel little fear when friday the 13th come though i know its a normal day but most of our ancestors believed in superstition they always said friday the 13th is a bad luck day, but some people wear a black chothes when the friday the 13th came they said it preventive bad luck... i don't know its true but we need to respect their belief nothing wrong if we follow superstition... the best thing we can do is take us more prayer before leaving the house not only today we do everyday. :)

Hello gloryacam, Somewhat yes and no. I was always scared about Friday the 13 it's not about monsters though just that I strongly believe in bad luck. Their were actually so many situation in were bad luck happens. Now about the planets being aligned its a bit to much I think all though not always the case for me though. Some people might even say that when planets align it's the end of the world but I just don't mind it because there are no factual studies that prove this.

Well, yeah the days is about having bad luck on this day. But, like I said in previous posts, I've lived through a number of Friday the 13ths but have not come across an unlucky day. For me, it's pretty much the same as other days. As to the planetary alignment and the end of the world, we'll know soon enough, won't we?
