To reduce trash I ever heard that we have to reduce of using paper bag or plastic bag. If the existence of both have a big number and grow more, it has bad impact for the environment and also increase the Global Warming. I don't know which one is better of two things above? Can somebody tell me the impact of too much using both material? So what's better for us to reduce plastic trash? Do you care about this issue of global warming? Share your view here :-)

I always support the Go Green Movement as I sympathize with Mother Nature. They say that we have to make use of paper bags instead of plastic bags. A plastic bag takes years before it will totally be decomposed or never at all. And if burnt, it will add to air pollution which will not only affect our ozone layers but the air we breath as well. A paper bag though is more helpful to mother nature as it is easily decomposed. However, I read in some articles that the production of papers take a number of trees to be cut down. This is why green movements are encouraging everyone to recycle almost everything which can still be re-used.

And may add to that. I'm doing charity works and one sponsor wanted to give the 100 poor kid-recipients school supplies. When I was presented with the different notebooks to choose from, I decided to pick the recycled paper notebooks so as to support the Go Green Movement. If possible let's prioritize in buying recycled products.

I use plastic bag unless if its a long road trip then ill use paper, Plus we recycle plastic bags and use it for different things, like when ever I go to the gym I always put my clothes in plastic bag. But its so much easier taking stuff out and bringing it in with plastic then paper. I only use paper for cold products such as ice cream or popsicles if i buy them.

I do care about issue of global warming of course. And for your information, use paper bag is better than use plastic bag. Do you know why? Because plastic bag is very hard to be composed by the soil. And for paper, it's easier to be composed by the soil. And most of paper bag has it s own "Go Green" logo. Like in my city, most of stores use paper bag ratter than plastic bag. Keep on mylotting till the world ends!

We have seen all the warnings in our environment. We should be scared by now. Of course, we have to junk anything plastic ASAP. This is a serious war against anything that destroys our planet. Let's go green.

I am support any campaign to lessen the use of plastic. At this time and age, it is best to be aware on ways how to help save the earth especially from global warming. Every one of us can contribute. If each and everyone would help out, it would really make a big difference. Our malls and grocery stores implement days wherein no plastic bags will be provided when you buy something. Instead, you have to bring your own bag to put the stuffs that you buy. I really like this program as it does help lot in lessening the use of plastic bags.

Both are bad for environment, but plactic bags are much more hazardous simply because they can never be recycled, trashed or decomposed. Paper bags can be recycled to make again paper thus avoiding cutting of more trees and also helps environment in a bit. so using paper bags is better than plastic bags.

Neither is a good option--I have four green bags, also known as reusable cloth bags. I went shopping today and used all four, plus one plastic bag (for cleaning chemicals). The plastic bag will be used to pick up doggy poo on his walks. I have to remember to get a couple each week or else we find ourselves stuck! Yes, I also care about global warming--there are a number of things that we can all do to reduce our carbon footprint. But many times things cost more money to actively do (ie--an electric car), but some frugal things I do are recycle, use cloth bags at the supermarket, and Freecycle useful items to keep them out of the landfill a little longer! What sorts of things do you use to save the environment?

I have bought several cloth bags with handles that are washable and reusable to take with me shopping. That way the store does not give out more bags and I do not have to throw out any bags that I cannot use again. I put together Native American crafts using tings that other people would just throw out. I use the teeth, claws feathers and other parts of animals that others give to me instead of them being put in the landfis.

I think it might be better if people start bringing their own reusable bags when shopping. I know a lot of places have started charging people for each bag used. When I was in China, I had a canvas bag I brought with me from America and I brought it with me whenever I went shopping. If I bought more than would fit in it, they would charge for each plastic bag they used to put my goods in. This is good because I think it encourages people to reduce the number of bags used, but I think it was more the foreigners that took advantage of that savings than the locals. There is a grocery store that just recently opened in my community and there you either buy a bag or you bring your own. Some people just bring their stuff out to their car without putting it into a bag to save the money. At the time that store opened, I had so many plastic bags laying around my room that I didn't know what to do with them all so now they are in my car in case I go to that store. And I often reuse the plastic bags to put in my small garbage cans rather than buying special bags for them so that does reduce some of the waste.

If the bags are discarded after one use, paper bags are better for the enviroment. However, it takes wood to make paper. That wood usually comes from trees. I have several cloth bags that I carry with me to the grocery store. I ask for plastic if the amount of my purchases exceed what my cloth bags will hold. At home, I use the plastic bags to line trash cans, hold garbage, etc. What I don't use, I give to our local charity thrift shop. It seems to be six of one to a half dozen of the other.

I will always choose paper over plastic. Plastic is probably one of the worst things for our planet because most plastics are non-biodegradable and will be on the earth long after the consumers that threw them away. Plastic also contains some pretty harsh chemicals depending on what kind of plastic it is, for example BPA which is on a lot of plastic containers for food storage now because it can cause cancer as well as a slew of other carcinogenic diseases and mutagenic properties. Overall paper is way better because it will degrade and the earth might actually get some nutrients from its decomposition. Paper bags also can't suffocate smaller animals that may get trapped in them. I am definitely considerate of global warming and I want to get to the point where I no longer have to use a car and put carbon emissions into the air from that. I also want to get to the point where I recycle all of my waste which is actually reusable and the rest can be composted in a compost pile. As far as trash from bags and grocery carrying every store has reusable bags for sale that more people should start to use. The problem is we forget them at home and end up using the disposable bags anyways so I think that I will probably start carrying my reusable bags in the car with me so I will always have one or two when I go shopping.

If you ask me to choose, i would prefer paper bag for our daily use. Because paper is biodegradable and don't have harmful effect on the environment. But, plastic bag have a harmful effect on the environment no matter how long it is. But, it is good that the government in my country had come-up with the new biodegradable plastic bag which is same like the paper bag. I will check first whether the plastic bag have the "biodegradable sign" or not, before i use them to throw my trash away.

The best idea is to use reusable bags, rather than bags which are thrown away after just one use. I keep a set of cloth bags in the car (and one in my handbag, if I nip into a shop on foot for a few items) and use them for the shopping. Less waste, less use of oil or cutting down trees, and also the supermarket is supporting the initiative and gives extra points for every bag you reuse.

I really don't care. I am resigned to the fact that we who only live On the planet ,and not the people Of the planet, are suppose to destroy the planet. I use plastic because that is what my supermarket Gives me. My neighboring State in January will charge 5 cents for each bag.Thankfully my State said no to this... for now. I see a time where there are No bags. The guards will not be able to tell who is shopping and who is shop lifting. Oops I didn't answer your question. Sorry I'm finish ranting. Ok, I think plastic is a little better. One can reuse plastic more times than paper. Even though I don't believe it helps , I do reuse plastic bags. My supermarket credits me 5 cents for each bag I bring into the store to use. So I brig in my own bags Most of the time.

I live in the USA. I havent seen paper bags for a while now. The paper used to be great for shipping wrap paper once all the seams were open and it was laid flat. About the plastic bags also the ones for fruit and veggies in the produce isle. I use them to line my trash cans in the house. I have a larger trash bin outside that i throw the smaller ones into. However too many can accumulate. I stash them one inside the other till i have a fairly large ball. Then i stop collecting them and use my cloth shopping bags. Untill i need more plastic.

Not plastic/paper bags, we should use a cloth bag to reduce global warming. However, plastic/paper can be recycled so please practice segregation and sell this trash of plastics/papers for money.

I know paper is probably better for the enviornment, but I use plastic. I have a handicap and can't carry a bag if it doesn't have handles. Very few paper bags do, so that is why I use plastic. I reuse the plastic bags, and try to recycle some because I know that plastic is worse so I try and make up for it!

It would be best if we will use paper bag since this is biodegardable, unlike plastic bags which are nonbiodegradable. Of course, the paper bag should be strong enough to hold heavy things. I hope someone can invent such thing. :) Moreover, we should refrain from using plastics since these will bring ill effects in the future.

Hi there redvakaurvaki, Paper bag is better but the best is ecobag. Why don't you use ecobag when shopping or going to the market. Ecobag is better because you can wash this one and reuse. It is very nature friendly.
