Your ONE aim in life?

If you were told that you could only achieve ONE "major" thing in your life what would it be? I want to own a home! I have always admired my parents house, and would love to be able to own my own, so that is what I am aiming for at the moment. What about you?

It is a good aim. But after that you will require a partner. then a kid and so on. it is an endless circle. For me now nothing -- I have a house, I have a family with grand children

Family, house, grandchildren,oh That makes it three aim, instead of just one

Yes that's true, although I have a partner already so I wouldn't really need another wish for that. But as for the child yes I would love a child and to be able to make a home for them and be able to feel like a proper little family together. To honestly be able to say that you don't want to change anything about your life, because you're happy, is amazing. I would love to be able to feel like that in the future.

That comes out of ageing. Yes. When u reach 60 and also fulfilled what is expected of you then you may not require anything. Of course you require day to day food, exercises that are mandatory.

yes. this one aim covers every aspect of life in detail.

I think that's many aims in one, rather than just one on its own! Although I admit that it would be nice. That being said, if you did everything right and never made a single mistake, then how would you learn how to live your life in the future? Many of the mistakes I've made in my life have been positive in the sense that I have taken valuable lessons from them and have been able to shape the rest of my life in a way that I am pleased with.

Yeah, that would be my aim as well. Nothing beats having my own home because it's mine. I'm free to do whatever i like with it, and it's an asset to me. With that, i get a sense of security because i owned something, most importantly, having a roof over my head.. haha Nothing matters more than a home because money can be earned and spent, but house? It's difficult to find and create a dream home.. haha

Yes that's one of the main things that makes me want to own my home so much. The freedom would be amazing. I even have plans for what I would like to do with my house when I get it, how I would like to decorate it and what I would use each of the bedrooms for! I need an office, which is something that I don't have here. Currently if I'm working, I have to just have my laptop on my knee, whereas it would be much nicer to be able to have a room of my own to go to when I want to do some work.

My one aim in life was to raise good children, which I achieved. Now it is to be independent until the end of my life. I hope I can accomplish that but it's not looking good due to the economy.

Congratulations on raising good children; every parent's dream is being able to be proud of their children for who they are, and who you've taught them to be. Being independent would be lovely, however you're right about the economy not looking too good at the moment. As a result of that, I am taking on as much work as I can at the moment to try and ensure that I have some funds behind me incase something goes wrong with my finances in the future.

I think for me, would be to ensure that my kids have bright futures. This could mean that they get into a university, and study whatever they want to. There is a lot of things I forgo today. I work hard, and I earn a decent wage, but I don't go around spending extravagantly. I make sure that there is money set aside so that when the kids get to that stage, I've paved the way for their future.

Getting to university is something that you, as a parent, could be very proud of as it isn't easy in the slightest. I am at university at the moment, and there were times when I just didn't think I would be able to do it. But, I worked incredibly hard, and I managed to get there and I actually graduate in a year's time providing I pass all of my exams (which I think I should have done so far). Your children are lucky that you have saved up money to provide for them, as a lot of parents do not think to do this and it means that their children will struggle trying to pay their own bills for the first time in their lives. Good luck to you and your children in achieving this dream.

Of course I want to have this earthly things: house and lot, cars and latest gadget but the most is to bring my family and friend to Christ. That's the ultimate desire of my heart.

I think everyone wishes for material things every once in a while. Certainly everyone I know wants to win the lottery, and most of my friends have elaborate plans which they will put in place if they ever happened to win the money. I'm glad that your religion brings so much to your life, and it is certainly good that you wish to share that with your friends and family. I would like to do the same in my life, too. When I have children I am going to make sure that Jesus is their best friend, right from the second that they come into the world.

A lot of people want a family, I suppose. I have a couple of friends who are older than me and are now too old to have children and haven't had any. Some don't even have a partner and I have to say that I find that mildly depressing. I just think that if I got to that stage in my life and didn't have children I would spend a lot of time wondering what the point of my life actually was if I'd not been able to bring other lives into the world.

I have pretty much got everything I have wanted to work hard for in life. My main goal now is to pay for it in full so it can be enjoyed afterwards. Right now we have things but work seven days a week to pay for it. It will pay off in the end though. I wish you luck in your goals too.

It's good that you're willing to work hard for what you want in your life. I am willing to work hard too, and I hope that this means that I will get things that I deserve in the future. Working seven days per week is hard, but it's sometimes worth it if it means that you can get nice things for yourself and for your family.

Everlasting and true love and friendship is what I would wish for if that is the only aim I could accomplish in life. With those two things, nothing else really matters.

We are buying our house and i will say that we do not have much longer to pay our mortgage for.We can not wait until we have finished it, as then we will have loads more spare cash for us.We can then get things that we really want, rather than to have to save up for things first.
@GemmaR (8517)

I can't imagine how much cash there would be to spare if there was no mortgage to pay. That has to be another one of my dreams. Although I don't have to do this, I help my parents with their mortgage payments whenever I can, so I know just how much it costs them! Within a couple more years they will have paid it off, and will then certainly have a lot more cash to spend on themselves than they did before, so they are seriously looking forward to that.

hello, I want to be a professional I.T or literally speaking you are talking to a thing. Well, I want to have my own business which really makes me earn and practice my profession. This is the only thing I want in life that is why I am pursuing to it. he he

Having your own business is a fantastic aim to have in life. To have the guts to even think about owning your own business is something that you should be very proud of, regardless of whether you actually end up with a business or not. I would love to have a business started from nothing, and then expand it to have hundreds of staff working for me. That is another dream of mine, but I'm not sure whether it's something that I would be able to do someday.
